  1. Thanks, Ron. The original gun owner (now deceased) brought it back from Burma while in service during the war. Since this was a bring back during war time the Chrysanthemum was still in place. I think the grinding of the Chrysanthemum was part of an agreement between Japan and the US at surrender time. It gets real confusing when you try to Google the Arisaka Type 30 cause you get a real mixture of rifles. But if the marking are stating Type 38 then that's what it is. Thank you very much! -David
  2. Hello guys, can anyone tell me what the characters mean in this photo on my rifle's receiver? Thanks, David https://plus.google.com/photos/11044407 ... wZGUtpaKNA

  13. All: I just purchased a WWII Sword and I'm hoping you all might be able to help me to identify the Smith and time frame of the blade. On the opposite side of the tang where the etched characters are located there are some what appears to be painted characters. Pictures can be found at the following link: https://picasaweb.google.com/110444077131266705198/JapaneseSwordIIFolder?authkey=Gv1sRgCKW3hPrA1Kq6Jg Thank you for your assistance! David
  14. Peter thanks, the pistol is 1929, I picked up 2 more this week another early type from 1937 and a late 2nd type from 1944. Also picked up a Nambu Type 26, breech type 9mm revolver and holster. The pistols are mine the sword belongs to my brother.
  15. Jean thank you very much, I will be sure to sign in the future. Since these swords are all new to us, can you tell me since this is a 20th century sword would this be considered to be a factory production or made by hand? Thank you very much for the fast response! David
  16. I have a couple of pictures of a Japanese Sword that my brother owns from WWII. We have removed the grip and have photographed the symbols on the tang. Any help we can receive in better understanding what we have here would be greatly appreciated. https://picasaweb.google.com/110444077131266705198/JapaneseSword?authkey=Gv1sRgCPXSwKKysPioCA
