  1. Super photo's, the activity in that blade is amazing.
  2. Very nice patina and pattern.
  3. Looks very crudely made and rusted.
  4. I agree that the nakago is corroded and has been messed with. IMO the kissaki doesn't look reworked, however what I'm seeing is a tired blade that has had too many polishes.
  5. I got my first sword at 19 in 1972 when I was stationed in Yokosuka Japan.
  6. I don't know of any reference material related to him. He wasn't like his teacher which has tons on references.
  7. I believe the signature is Kuniteru, Kuniteru II 1829-1874, print artist and student of Kunisada. Signature reads Kuniteru gwa (drawn).
  8. Over the years I've had several of these swords. The ones that I had seem to have held up pretty well. While not all that nice to look at they were still tempered blades with nice hamon and hada. Some of the Bizen blades even had some nice nioi and nie visible.
  9. Thanks all for the information.
  10. I apologize if this question has been asked before. What are the laws related to shipping swords to the UK from the US?
  11. I'm still a little confused, is there any one else that can add to it?
  12. Thanks for the help.
  13. Sorry about that. Ron R.
  14. Interesting, that is the whole inscription. Could the name be the family the blade belonged to?
  15. I can really use some help in translating this Sayagaki. I translated it years ago but it didn't make any sense to me, so I figured my translation was off. Any help would be appreciated. The sword in this saya is a Nakamaki-naoshi O-suriage, mumei.
  16. Nate, I've collected Nihon-to for a long time but I've never been able to draw an Oshigata so well. Looks like a professional job. Beautiful Hamon.
