  1. Thank you all for the info. Too bad that it's a fake, looked like a nice piece. I send an email to the auction house informing them that it isn't real, hopefully they will pull it out of the sale.
  2. Here is another with an estimate of $2500-$3500.
  3. Auction estimate is $1500- $2000.
  4. This Tsuba is one of a number of Tsuba's coming up for auction next month at Eldred's on Cape Cod. Any comments on if it's a legit or a tourist piece? It's solid silver.
  5. Well said Darcy.
  6. Nice looking blade. It gives me the impression of an early Shin Shinto blade.
  7. Very beautiful blade.
  8. As long as it isn't fraying and falling off leave it alone.

  12. Any other comments would be appreciated.
  13. It seems a bit odd that the ken wasn't added, but it does makes sense that it could have been planned but not added for some reason.
  14. What makes you think it's poor quality? Can you elaborate or is that the standard reply to a non papered blade?
  15. It's said that a smith can be identified by his hiromono. Here are several pictures of sections of a Nagamaki-naoshi that I've owned for a number of years. The Hiromono is So No Kurikara but without the Ken and it has a rendai at the tail. On the ura side are three hi one long center hi and one shorter one on each side, below the hi is a rendai and above the hi is the Bonji (sanscrit) I posted in an earlier post. Does any one know of a smith that may have use the hiromono without the Ken along with the type of Hi?
  16. I agree a beautiful piece of history.
  17. I would like to edit out my other images but I don't know how to do that. I'm going to try one last time hopefully this is a clearer image.
  18. Here is a little cleared image about the best I can get it.
  19. Thanks for the info and correction. I realized after I posted it that I spelled it wrong, old age creeping in. I'll see if I can post a better picture.
  20. I first thought this was Fudo Myo but now I'm not sure looks like too many strokes to be that. Sorry for the bad image.
  21. A better image with some of the surface rust wiped off.
  22. What can I do to restore and reserve it?
  23. Thank You, so it's late Muromachi than?
  24. I'm not a Tsuba person so I know very little about this Iron Katana Tsuba, any information on type and possible school would be appreciated.
