Yes , is Wakamizu kumi (New year event) theme tsuba. Similar tsuba made by Tamagawa Masaharu with seal signed in gold takazogan .62 x 59 x 4 mm

Hi Roger ! Your tsuba is made in the style of soten, These tsuba were very popular and most works in the style are imitation , often poor quality made by shiiremono makers in late Edo . Examples - tsuba Soten I / II generation and two later works in the style.

Thank you for all comments .It could be a later copy , tsuba is surely slightly thinner : hight 75 mm width 73 mm rim thickness : 4,3 mm , center - seppa 4,9 mm. The first tsuba with an irregular shape with a pine motif has very good iron and can actually be attributed to Tosa Myochin. Akasaka's earlier work has a different iron. I'm not a master of photography, sometimes the scan gives more details. Below is a reference to good tsuba (steel) Tosa Myochin and Akasaka and inregular shape pine tsuba with gold inlay

First tsuba is pictured in Torigoye's "Tsuba Kanshoki" 1975 Edition on page 151,described as first Nishigaki Kanshiro ,has hakogaki by K.Torigoye.

However the first tsuba is Nishigaki Kanshiro, not Akasaka, I will add better photos later

This hakogaki comes from a different tsuba than that offered as Umetada. Hakogaki is very interesting, it comes from the last years of Torigoye's life (1977). Hakogaki describes the shinchu Tachi Kanagu-Shi Tsuba. While abroad, Torigoye used the red round seal of the bird (TORI). His mark contains Roman numerals. The Roman number of MDCCCXCIII is 1893 - the year of birth of K. Torigoye, he lived in the years 1893–1978. The last part is "Torigoye Saro Shirusu" (thank you M.Sesko), date Showa 52 (1977) . Torigoye used the name Saro in the 60s, in the 70s he used the name Taizan(對山 and 対山) There is also no characteristic Kao sign defining the era.

I am looking for a brief biography of Torigoye Kasutaro. I am interested when Dr K.Torigoye was born .When he was famous and well known he used red round "Bird" (TORI) seal. His sign contains Roman numerals, I wonder what this date or number means. Roman number MDCCCXCIII is 1893 - Is this number year of birth ? Below is a seal and hakogaki with this seal. Mikolaj

Last line is go of Torigoye Kazutaro "Sodo" and the bird-style kaô with two ticks - second class pre-Edo item. -

Next Iyo Shoami School Tsuba, signed YOSHU MATSUYAMA SHOAMI SOSHO / CHUKO KAIZAN MORIKUNI SAKU KORE . The oval copper plate carved with ferns, applied with a shakudo rim.A better photo shows a similar cut place where where the fukurin connects.

In my copy of volume 2 are also numerous photo errors, especially vertical white stripes.

See also topic http://www.militaria.co.za/nmb/topic/25793-i-copper-cant-help-it/ I like tsuba with boxes described by K.Torigoye. This Gimei tsuba Yasuchika , I wonder what writen dr Torigoye about this item on box.I can read only : Shinschu ju mei Yasuchika , Mokko gata .... I am especially curious about this text as in the picture (5 and 6 column of text). Last is : Showa 45 (1970) signed Saro + kao " round" shape 2 dashes is second class Edo period item.
