  4. ok I've only learnt my lesson from observing you guys on this board and doing some research of my own - and I have just bought some of the resources suggetsed here from Amazon I have also bought some rubbish from ebay sometimes I see "genuine Japanese signed by the smith" blades from China and people are bidding hundreds of dollars for them! its scary and its annoying as well (makes it harder for the genuine collectors) regards Jason
  5. I'm a newbie too but realised quickly you might as well buy from one of the dealers here (in the links section) most of the ebay stuff that seems to be on ebay is on ebay for a reason  I also really appreciate the knowledge and help some of the "oldies" on the board have and are willing to share can't wait until I get my waki Jason
  6. are you happy with it? it looks great I am currently buying the bungo blade from Fred regards Jason
  7. quoting the ebay auction "This is one of two swords I recently bought by a heck of a veteran...we chatted for hours...anyway, he was a USMC vet and picked both of these up in the Iwo Jima battle...one of which (this one) was taken during a smaller banzai charge late in the battle (he called it mopping up..)- Anyway, in it;s own right it is a KILLER signed BISHU OSAFUNE SUKE SADA and DATED february 1518 sword"

    Bungo issues

I notice a lot of Bungo bashing  on this board I am just in the process of buying my first nihonto from Fred W which is a papered Bungo (thanks for all your help Fred) can I ask why Bungo seems to have a bad/poor rep? I know they are "workman's blades" but I like that also, built for purpose regards Jason
