Thank you. Is it possible to give an approximate price estimate?
-
O.k...... this would mean a time-period from 1596 - 1781 ? A quite long time for forging a sword.... Is Bungo Shigeyuki + Tomoshige the right maker?

This would mean early edo-period?

Hello, I´ve got this wakizashi for some years. Me was told, it is from the muromachi- period. Made by a sword-smith named Kunishige Tomoyuki. But now I´m not longer sure of this. Is it possible to say in what period this sword was made an from whom? I would appreciate your opinion. Thanks. Ed.

Thank you very much. What would be a fair price for this sword? Ed

It´s not my sword. It is offered to me for 1.400€. I will ask for better pics.

What are your thoughts? Could this mumei katana be an muromachi-era sword? In my opinion it should be late edo-era. What would be a fair price for the sword? Thanks Ed

I´ve purchased this sword. The nakago is mumei. It still have a nice polish despite of the rusty stains. The total length of the blade is 31,5 inch. Is it possible to estimate the right period? I presume it could be from the Edo-period. Am I right? How old is the tsuba? What shall I do with the rusty stains? Would it be worth to make a new polish? Ed

Is this wakizashi made by this smith? http://nihontoclub.com/smiths/KIY456 If yes, what does "niō" mean, and what is the meaning of the last kanji? Could the nakago be shortened??? ed

So, here´re now some daylight closeups. Not perfect, but in spite of this I hope a clear determination will be possible. By the way.... this I´ve found today in WWW. Not the same but damned similar..... http://www.google.de/imgres?sa=X&biw=12 ... P8BEK0DMDY Ed

No, it looks like an "scratch" made by the smith. Ed

Thanks for your recommendation. I consider to purchase some good books, I think this one would be a good start. I will post some better daylight pics of the tsuba with good closeups. Perhaps then a clear determination will be sure possible. Ed

No, no, no.... Rust is not a good thing. By "bland," Mariusz meant absence of hammering marks, surface texture, iron bones, etc. Hoanh Ahhhh, o.k., now I understand. Yes, that is fact. My tsuba has nearly no manufacturing marks. That means the processing in early periods like muromachi was more crude? Ed

You mean the tsuba is not rusty enough.... Ed
