  1. Sorry, could not find an example. Erased the "off topic" post. regards,
  2. I know and it is really handy, but it also adds a nice personal touch. regards,
  3. Hi, just interested to know, if i am the only egomaniac on the forum with this habbit! What´s in the BOX? Some Japanese collectors/sellers have a similar approach: All of them: regards,
  4. Hi Les, looks great! I see no problem in such a restauration. Nothing was changed, the piece just looks now like the smith wanted it when it was produced.
  5. Well, you could keep it for its aesthetic value !
  6. It is a sworddealer/polisher that issues his own papers. The papers are considered worthless by most people.
  7. Ha ! Actually i found the site because someone else posted a link on NMB. regards,
  8. Damn! My condolences to his family.
  9. Like this one ? https://www.aoijapan.net/
  10. Had the same problem a few weeks ago. They get strict if you want the 7%. And then all of a sudden I had to make sure that the item is not of historical or religious importance to the country it originated... it is quite hard to proof that something is not important :D!!!
  11. Hello, recently i bought a little yari from Mr. Doffin and i was very pleased with the overall transaction. http://www.japaneseswordbooksandtsuba.com/store/swords/s124-sankaku-yari-signed-shimosaka-paper The communication was very easy and the time he needed to respond was excellent, despite the time barrier. The yari came in a solid box with enough bubble-wrap to secure it even from the extrem misshandling by DHL/the local customs office. Definitely a seller i can recommend to anyone! regards,
  12. Never had any problems with transport damage. But i am in the middle of a very harsh discussion with my local customs office right now. They believe my little shimosaka yari is a national treasure! Never underestimate the incompetence of your local authorities... regards,
  13. Hi Joe, they used the darker paper till the early 90´s. I have a tsuba with a hozon paper in the same dark color without the punched holes. best regards,
  14. Seems like a legit wedding gift to a young women ! Although the husband surely would prefer a blender...
  15. Congrats! You will never be disappointed by a kashu smith . regards,
  16. http://nihontocraft.com/Kamakura_Tsuba.htmlooks kind of similar to me. Good luck with the sale, nice piece!

    Kumo Iron Tsuba

Hi Ruben, well done, the simplstic design really appeals to me ! regards,
  18. Yeah, definitely my favourite swordmanga. Deep story and good character-development, sometimes a "bit" gory at the same time . regards,
  19. Hi Matt, USPS is fine. DHL will handle the parcel after it arrives in Germany. Only problem could be double-edged weapons like daggers. regards,
  20. Hi James, in former times swords were not treated like pieces of art(like nowadays) but just like a lot of everyday items. Especially in the sengoku jidai thousands of swords circulated through a lot of hands. So, when it was time to make a new koshirae they slammed a new ana in, no big deal. regards,
  21. Hi Jimi, i think the naginata looks nice, just a bit put off by the snake. I saw a yoroi-doshi with a dragon horimono that was similar in style, but i forgot where. regards,
  22. Entered today, nice article.
  23. Would be quite a long period. First come first serve, thats only fair and i stretched my funds for this year quite a bit and it is february .
  24. Relax, everyone knows that "old soldiers never die; they just fade away."! regards,

    Satsuma Tsuba

Hi Peter, i have seen this design mentioned as Satsuma-Mon, Jumonji, Kutsuwa or simply as Cross-design. I just like the clean lines of it, wether or not it is in any way affiliated with satsuma or the shimazu-clan. For the real fans, i looked for something 100% Satsuma and like always youtube blessed me with a little gem ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s75uRJBCFXw
