Hi, maybe I forgot to wrote that I don't collect info for selling the sword. My sword is posted on this forum in tophic "strange mei on new katana", and it's not on sell. Collecting info. on style is for personal use, because mei on nakago was erased and era is non certain. Thank you anyhow, Bojan

Hello, I try to take some photos of my (probably gendai?) blade and try to learn the correct terminology of the activity on the blade. As I didn't have chance to see much of the Nihonto blades in live, I try to compare activity with the picture on the web, so: -If I start on kissaki, did I see the hakikake typ of boshi?? -the hada is ..masame?? Hamon = suguha Greetings, Bojan
  3. Hi, here is the picture without the red marking line. Splits are on the both sides along the blade. I was interested on this tachi some times ago, but when holded in hand, I notice this "flow" and not buyed. I yust want to find out that this is not a ware, but fatal split between layers. Bojan
  4. Hello, get one photo of this longer cracks on tachi blade (runs below the red line). It is not the best photo to see the whole lenght of the "split - ware?". Bojan
  5. Hi Agudi, you posted question under my topic, use "New topc" button on main forum page... Regards, Bojan
  6. Hello, When I send saya of this sword to repair the lacquer, I find this hand written "mei?" under old lacquer. Is it possible to read this? Thank you, Bojan
  7. Hello, You are right, the sword was also unsigned. Thank you all, Bojan S.
  8. Hello, Thank you Brian and Ford for the answers. "Ware" on sword that I saw realy folows the line of the hamon, sometimes it stops and then runs further. On the other side of the blade "ware" is just on some parts, and they are wery short. Brobably bed welding between the layers. Bojan S.
  9. Hello all, I kindly ask you a question about flaw - ware . How fatal it is, if the thin line (ware) runs almost along all lenght of the blade, just above the hamon? Wery thin line is just possible to be seen, if the blade is turned on strong light. The blade that I saw with this flaw was shinshinto tachi, which was also out of polish. Thank you, Bojan S.
  10. Hello all, With my new katana I got nice iron tsuba with a dragon on both sides. Is it possible to define an age or to tell something about the nice motif on it? Thank you, Bojan S.
  11. May activity on the blade tell something more about the age of a blade? Bojan
  12. Hello to all, I think that mr. Piers is right about mei stamp (Masamitsu). Is it possible that the sword is older then this stamp? As I mention before, on the other side of nakago are tracks of maybe older an longer signature- I can just see some notches. Any opinion about the age of the blade. Blade is in good polish an has nice koshirae. Sori: 66 cm, Nakago:21 cm, Hada: Itame, Mihaba:3 cm,rain Hada: Itame. Bojan
  13. Hello again, I just get new katana with wery strange small mei (one is 4mm) on lower part of nakago. Is it possible to find out what this mei means (??masa mitsu??), because on the other side are almost invisible tracks of maybe older or removed signature. Nakago looks old? I will post more info of the blade and pix of a nice activity. Bojan
  14. Hallo, I try to take a "better pix?", of the part where "tempering" is the best to see. If still any doubt about watter tempered, please let me know. Thank you, Bojan S.
  15. Hallo, My WW2 katana has no arsenal stamps on the tang only kanjis (shoshinshi Kanemune). It is difficult to make a god pix of the "hamon", which is best seen in low part of the blade, where the polish is still pretty ok. If it s possible, in some way to find out that the blade is realy water tempered, I will ask for recommendation for polisher, if it s possible in Europe. Bojan S. Slovenia
  16. Hallo to all, Is it possible to determined if my ww2 katana(Shoshinshi Kanenemune- no showa stamp) is tempered or not. As it is seen on pictures the "temper" line is wery hard to see, maybe bacause it is out of polish or It is yust a finger-ston polish that look s like a temper? Bojan S. R Slovenia
  17. Thank s to all!! for this information about kanji on my katana. This is the first step to learn more about my katana. Probably is just ww2 katana but I am wery proud to have it, so if I will have some more questions, please understand me. Bojan
  18. Thank s mr. Stephen for replay, Is it possible to have katana two signed smith s. Masanao and Kanemune? Looks that upper thre kanji were made by diferent tool (wide notches). Bojan
  19. Help with signature. Can anyone tell me the meaning of first three kanji? I think that last two kanji are the name of the smith "Kane mune??". My sword was brought from America to our family by my grandfathers brother as a gift, he served in US Navy as a pilot in Pacific in ww2. Because obviously nobody put much attention on it, I try to collect as much as possible information of the sword and try to preserve it. The sword was a log time kept under the key (out of the childrens hands) in a "lumber room", I am worried abou it s condition (dark spots on the blade-rust). Thanks for any replay. Bojan fom Slovenia
