    Appraisel!

Hmm, I doubt it's only rust even I would like to believe it  So as I said, who's interested can have it for little money. I am not willing to put a polish on this. If nobody want's to have it I will try to "enhance" my polish capabilities. Someone selling a Uchigumori, Hazuya and Jizuaya Stone??  Andreas

    Appraisel!

From the paper it reads: "Mino Kanenaga. The blade received an excellent Kanteisho rating (Important Work) at the NY Shinsa this past Fall. As you can see from the scan of the origami, it has no less than the seals of 5 appraisers including Yoshikawa sensei. Mino-den is one of the 5 major gokaden/traditions from the koto period that has its roots in Yamato-den. The Kanenaga line is a long one that extends from the Muromachi period well into Shinto times. This blade is a classic representation of Shinto Mino work, very graceful, longish kissaki, and a wild hamon. I don’t have much information on the specific Kanenaga that made this blade. The era determined by the NTHK was Kyoho (1730) although I suspect it may be earlier because the mekugiana was bored from 2 sides and not straight through. This is a good sign of koto work. (Also, Yoshikawa sensei tends to grade mumei blades as being younger)." Nagasa: 53.3 CM (21â€) Width at Hamachi: 3.0 CM (1.2â€) Width at Monouchi: 2.6 CM (1.1â€) Sori: 1.3 CM (0.65â€) Torri-zori Hamon: Nie based Gunome/Midare Jihada: Itame/Masame Boshi: Midare-Komi Yasurimei: O’ Sujikai

    Appraisel!

Hi trygve, I just have exactly a sword you are describing. I bought it two weeks ago from a very nice gentlemen. This sword is having NTHK Kanteisho papers. I received it and was wondering about the rating. You can see pictures at http://www.a-unterbusch.de/nihonto This is just a quick done page without deep information. Just for watching this wakizashi. Unfortunately it was damaged on transport (Tip bended on the first 2mm) due to transport failure. But the owner was very generous and did a price reduction. So as I said I am also wondering how a blade in this condition can get NTHK Kanteisho with 73 point at least and until today could not find anyone who can give me a propriate answer to this. In my eyes its a dead nail. It is in old polish and I doubt it will survive a touchup polish to bring out the hamon. If anyone is interested I will sell it as a bargain and restoring project. The Tip is repaired already and just needs a polish with uchigomori and fingerstones. I cannot get them in germany for a realistic price. Andreas
  9. Or simply use a working OS ----> Mac OSX 10.4 together with a macBook Pro. I love it. Used Micro$hit over 18 years but now I am getting older and it is no kick for me any longer to beat all the bugs. I enjoy more to switch my Mac on, work with it and switch it off, switch it on work with it and switch it off..... continue.... Instead of: switch it on, new Hardware found, new update installed, please reboot, new virus information available, please reboot, Bluescreen, Boot in save mode, deinstall driver, reeinstall driver blablablabla... Try it, it is different, it's hard at the beginning but when you simply do what the mac tells you your workflow is sooooooo smooooooooth!
  10. Thought the same! looks like tip was broken and then shortened. I did US$1200 on it but still reserve on it. So I let it go if it is more. Not worth it!
  11. Uups, me stupid http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... otohosting
  12. What do you think about this one?? The description seems a bit curious. The guy who wrote it tried to write it so that it looks he is not profession but parts of it are with the specific terms. So is it a go or a no go??
  13. Nice Piece! I like the Koshirai and the Tsuba! I am not enough expert to help you with the value but even that it is not in the best condition and needs a polish it seems to be done from a good swordsmith! Better to have a Mumei one with nice quality than to have a gimei signed one with bad quality!
  14. Hi Paul, unfortunately I cannot be in London due to the situation that I have to prepare my marriage :D So, is it possible that you can get one of these catalogues signed for me and if yes what will be the price for it? If you have a little piece of Tamahagane (Nut size) I would appreciate if you can also store it in the package :D I don't know if you want to answer official, if not please send me a PM. Best Regards Andreas U.
  15. Sorry to say,but looks like a kitchen knife :D
  16. Hi folks, so I had a personal speech by phone with Mike now and really have to say he behaves like a gentlemen. We found a modality both of us can survive with. So this should warn anyone how bad things can go in Ebay. I would recommend to everybody to sell sword through boards like this. Maybe it is not so "tickling" without bidders but it is safer for both sides! Thanks for the support of all of you. I own a Nihonto now, I own a Nihonto now, I own a Nihonto now, I own a Nihonto now, I own a Nihonto now, I own a Nihonto now, I own a Nihonto now, :D :D :D
  17. I tried to point that out in my "german english"
  18. We are already two thinking about this. The other gentlemen here got the same strange Info. So we both will sit and wait until there is a plausible explanation! Andreas
  19. I PM'ed him several times after the auction ended and didn't get any reply. I agree, that maybe there is a reasonable explanation and as I said I don't want to mandate anything but it seems strange for me at all because since I confronted him with the mismatching addressdetails there is no response anymore even this was 10 min. after the last email from me and reply from him! Andreas Unterbusch
  20. Hi just for the note to anybody: Who knows Mike Yeon in person? I won the auction and got a reply that the money has to be transfered to: david morison xx united kingdom The registered Name by Ebay for the account is: Michael Yeon xx New York Beside the Situation that he wont accept Paypal though it is a valid payment method. I don't want to blame anyone and maybe there is a plausible explanation for this but for me this seems strange. After confrontation the "indivudual" with these things there is no reply at all anymore though he sended 3 mails inbetween 20 min. before I stated to clarify this mismatch! Anyone?? Andreas Unterbusch P.S. I was anyway surprised that when I was watching the auctions of Mike Yeon, when I clicked on "watch more aucions of this seller" I got the message "This seller has no other auctions" Even I know that the Yukihide was for sale! I don't want to mandate anything and if there is an explanation for all of this I say sorry in advance, but it seems that this Ebay account is hijacked by someone!
  21. Hey good! Which payment method you will do. You can send me a PM regarding this!
  22. yipee!! Got my first Nihonto. I didn't bought the Yukihide but the Mino Kanenaga for $ 1.225,-- incl. NTHK Paper from Mike Yeon. I know it isn't the best condition but, hey c'mon a new polish here in germany is around $ 1.500- 2000. So in total an NTHK papered Katana for $ 3.000 is not the worst I expected :D The Koshirai is dmaged but this I can fix myself because "wood work" is my second name. The only thing is how to use Japanese laque. I am able to airbrush and paint with modern colors but laque is soemthing different but I will give it a try and if I am fail I will head out for a nice koshirae. Andreas
  23. Really nice Video, Does someone know where to download the full resolution video? Not the one that can be shown on that side because its poor quality! Andreas
  24. Hmm, even that I am new in this but my opinion is that it will not add any value. Why should it? The sword is a masterpiece of the smith not somone elses. It may add value if it was owned or manufactured for someone who was historically seen important (made for an emperor) A pure "collector" e.g. Compton even he is well known is just a collector who did not ad any value to the sword. He was just lucky to get it earlier then someone else or simply had the money to get it. So, I would not pay a cent extra for an "collector" name. I would be willing to pay extra if the sword was made for someone special but theses swords are anyway still family treasures. just my 50cent's
  25. Sorry guys, even that I am a beginner with swords I lerned the following: It is impossible to judge a sword only by pictures. I doubt that you can see by these few pics that it is oil tempered. The rust on the tang looks normal to me. It is a photo and colours will change drastically using a flash, especially if there is dust (rust) on a surface The Tsuka same, hey c'mon what do you expect? That there is the original Tsuka left from Edo era?? It is crystal clear that the whole kishirae is new. Anyway its unimportant because the "sword" is not the koshirai. The sword was shortened minimum twice. This shows that the pre owners were very satisfied with the swords abilitys. One of the polishers polished a bit too much the ppart of the habaki. Thats the only thing I would say this looks strange but pleas correct me. Andreas
