Old Family Blade in Military Mounts
GetFuzzy2 replied to GetFuzzy2's topic in Military Swords of Japan
Greetings thanks for the feed back, I’ll take some more pictures today, but the picture size restricts me and usually have to shrink down photos but will post more today and add full length and mount photos ect. God Bless -
Here is a nice old family blade with pierced mountings I picked up from a show this weekend from a friend. The cutting edge is 25 1/2 inches long and at one point of its life must of been very long indeed big. Overall great shape and must of had a leather cover around the handle to keep everything so nice. I would love to hear everyone’s thoughts and I can take more photos. God Bless

Honestly great blade I’ve been looking for that smith for some time. Congratulations God Bless

Bruce I’ll look later today. Thanks for the intel on how to do Showa math. God Bless
-
Chia that is so interesting, the 19th year of Showa is 1945, that is amazing to have such a late war sword. Thanks for the translation. God Bless

Thanks for all the input Guys and the help, here are some more pictures sorry about the poor detail and the mess. Any other insight would be very helpful and appreciated. PS I enjoy the punched out Tusba that has been subdued with paint. God Bless

Greetings, I picked up this type 44 about 10 years ago and will post more pictures but I’m really itching to know the date and smith of this blade. Thanks for everything and I’ll post more photos shortly. God Bless

Mecox thanks so much for the intel drop, I’m going to write all this information down and place it on a tag to accompany this sword. Thanks again to everyone for their research help and giving context and life to this sword. God Bless

Conway thanks, keen eye, it’s painted. An Army buddy got that for me a few years ago. God Bless

Bruce you have great taste 😀. Conway sorry about the delay had to finish up brush hogging and farm chores. Here’s some pictures of the fittings, they are all numbered 33, the handle is original but re wrapped. If you need more pictures please ask. Thanks again for your insight. God Bless

Greetings, picked this WWII Sword up at the Forks of Delaware Gun Show from a good friend of mine for a very honest price. The handle is rewrapped and other than that complete and in very good shape. The blade is arsenal made and has a little arsenal stamp but just a nice weight and balance that I truly appreciate. Can anyone please help me with the smith and year and month? Thank you very much for comments and insight. God Bless

On a scale of 0-10, how fake is this sword?
GetFuzzy2 replied to George KN's topic in Military Swords of Japan
Blade looks good and nice leather wrapped handle, you took a gamble and won. If he posted better pictures earlier you would not have this sword. Congratulations. God Bless -
This is a great thread and good reference and knowledge. Thanks guys God Bless

Greetings, I’m looking to see if anyone could point me in the direction of an individual that can traditionally re-wrap the handle “Tsuka” that I just received in the traditional way to the same “similar” color as originally Type 94. I can supply the Mekugi. Here are some very not great photos from a friend that a bought the sword from. Thanks again God Bless

That is some hot knowledge right that just came down the pike, thankyou so much everyone for your confirmation of the signature and thoughts on polishing. I will most likely polish this blade down the road since I love Nagamitum and the variations in his work and would enjoy seeing new life in it. Thanks again for everyone's thoughts. God Bless

Sorry for the poor pictures I’m restricted by the size of photos I can upload to the site and I had poor light and no oil when I took the pictures. I took the photos in a rush. I apologize but really appreciate everyone’s input. God Bless ps all mount parts are matching numbers

Greetings I’ll add more photos tonight but I would love to hear your thoughts on this Gunto and if it is a real Nihonto Shin Gunto? I purchased it ten years ago for $700 because the previous owner could not remove the handle. I would like to also invest in having it polished and papered. Your thoughts would be appreciated. God Bless
