  5. I am unable to say if hamon still exists but nakago is so mishaped and this blade so abused that the Value is 10 to 20 $ for someone interested in a piece of steel.

  8. Just forget Emura and Nagamitsu and refer to what says Tsuruta san. He is talking of gendai smiths. There a lot of gendai smiths much better than Emura and Nagamitsu, much better...
  9. Thanks a lot Clement, it was already advertised on the Board when it was reprinted almost two years ago.
  10. Beware of Guido, I have still in my hidden vault a video of him singing karaoke, just my life insurance...
  11. Jacques, Search Markus Sesko’s book on Japanese swordsmiths, they are listed. Markus works only from Japanese sources. Anyway, all smiths listings are coming from Japanese sources (truism). Upto you to search for Japanese sources. You can always e-mail Markus for his sources.
  12. Jacques did not say they did not exist...
  13. From Darcy: « you must try 3 times in a row, if you pass a shinsa year you will have to queue up again from scratch ». Guido stated in a post he had a sword which passed on the second try. Needless to say that Darcy’s posts are based on two decades at least of top blades ceaseless hard studying. That is why it is difficult for most of us to really understand Nihonto, you must spend years to exercise your eyes on the best swords, difficult when one is on a limited budget. The rest is hours of studying the why’s of the shinsa, for this you must have done what is written in the precedent paragraph. Remember Sherlock Holmes (nothing new under the sun), I try to quote: « If you know by heart the details of one thousand crimes, it will be easy to solve the following one ».
  14. No, it is not a koto nakago, it is a Bizen nakago
