  6. This is my humble collection. Three blades, one Menpo and one Katanakake I keep my three blades allways stored each one in a box and with its corresponding bag, besides weather conditions I am also the proud father of a four years old girl, a seven years old boy and the owner of a Bullterrier ! By the way is also better to keep my blades stored in case my wife gets angry !
  7. Thank you Jean and Ron!
  8. Thank you Curran and Alex !
  9. Are there any pictures or drawings of original koshiraes from the koto period ? I am not looking for the court damyo tachi koshirae type I am eager to learn how the blades were mounted by regular Samurai class during kamakura-Nanbokucho- Muromachi periods. I was able to participate in the great koto koshirae lecture during the last San Francisco Token Kai and I was looking forward to learn more about koto koshirae. Javier
  10. Amazing Job Dave ! I would love to own one in the future after buying my first Kabuto! I am attaching a few pictures of Iki Ningyo examples from the Buenos Aires National Arms museum. Best regards Javier.-
  11. Hi Guido I am attaching two pictures of a nagamaki naoshi with a deep kirikomi on the mune. I do not have experience in polishing but from my perpective it looks like the togishi left the kirikomi there. As you mentioned Impossible to tell if the skar was produced by the heat of the battle or something else. I had the chance to study this piece in hand during the San Francisco Token Kai in 2013. According to the description on the show table the blade belonged to the Hojoji School (I am sorry I do not remember if it had papers ) It was also described that it was a classic example of the soshu work from the nanbokucho period but that there was new evidence that sometimes point these type of blades to those of the Ichomonji School. 12. 100% agree an overwhelming experience! The show was amazing I had the chance to attend to the NBTHK lecture of old koshirae it was exceptional! I am a beginner this was only my second Token Kai flying from Argentina and like in my previous participation all the collectors and dealers in the San Francisco Show were very kind and willing to share all their valuable knowledge. I had the chance to study in hand all kind of amazing blades Yamashiro Rai and Enju Yamato Tegai, Sen Juen Tachi From Heian period!, Bizen Masamitsu Thank you Andy Quirt! Yamato Shizu and Naoe shizu thank you Greg! Bizen Omiya A beautiful Hizen blade, thank you Mike! There were also a few amazing Bizen blades Yoshioka Ichimonji and Bishu Osafune Morisuke And much more ! What was most important I was able to meet again a lot of great people there and meet new collectors and dealers too! A big thank you for all the people who work hard for making this show possible ! From my point of view it was a superb learning experience. Javier

    My First Menpo

Hi Uwe, Thank you for your answer, could you please let me know where can I find more information about this type of menpo? Any particular book, article or website that you can suggest? This is my first katchu piece and I am very interesting in learning the most possible about it. Any other information that you can provide will be highly appreciated I was not able to find a lot of information about Haruta school menpos. Javier

    My First Menpo

Hi I have just bought this Menpo in the San Francisco Token Kai. I really like it, I am not an expert in this field so any additional information will be highly regarded. From previous posts my understanding is that this piece is a quite common Nara ressei men (fierce expression) menpo. In particular I would like to know about the period of this piece and if any particular maintenance is required. Also would like to learn about proper care recomendations in order to be able to enjoy this piece for many years to come. Any other information will be appreciated. Javier
  15. Hi Ken, Jussi and Greg I agree with your comments 100%. In my case spending 20k in a blade in my current economic status (married with two kids) would involve a significant investment, in addition I am currently focused on Koto swords. Disregarding that I considered that it was interesting to find a survey from Japan in connection with Nihonto. Javier
