    Katchushi tsuba

In term of comparison with mine which is similar but without Kogai and Kozuka ana. Diameter is 10,50 cm.
  4. Another one from another auction house: https://www.boisgirard-antonini.com/lot/93296/9625716 Translation is within the page
  5. Not sukashi ! From a french auction house: http://www.thierrydemaigret.com/html/fiche.jsp?id=8432670&np=&lng=fr&npp=150&ordre=&aff=&r= Translation: TSUBA iron decorated with a slight relief of a crab under the moon. L: 8.5 cm (slight oxidation) Japan, 19th century
  6. I have this small tanto tsuba signed Terutsugu zo (Yokoya school). I was wandering the name of the technic of the ground metal which looks like ishime on silver. What are you views? What is the name of a "mei" on a plate (shakudo) which is added on the tsuba ? Thank you for you information
  7. My researches have driven me to a potential explanation: "Shamoji are used to crush vegetables, such as garlic and cucumbers, as cleavers are used in Western cuisine. The shamoji has also been a symbol of unity between the mother and wife in Japanese society. In one tradition, it was passed down from one generation to the next to symbolize the family duties that were handed down." But why on a tsuba for a Bushi?
  8. Dear all, a great thank you for such hypothesis and the Japanese pun makes sense to me (but which one?) If I summarize we have on this tsuba : a shakushi (杓子) or a shamoji (杓文字) a daikon(大根) Chesnuts (栗) and more probably sancho pepper (山椒) (please refer to the picture) I have now to investigate the meaning of such an improbable collection of articles....
  9. I have this copper tsuba signed Masayoshi (Iwama?) who made it at 61 years old. But what about the design? Is it a ladle with radish and pepper? What could be the meaning or the story ? Thank you for your views.
  10. Elegant. I wish to have it in my collection....
  11. Worms again
  12. Marius, This post was a little bit provocative as asking the question implied my serious doubts. Coming to Owari is probably what could happen at best to me.
  13. Curran, it has not been purchased at Yahoo Japan, but at a french auction House (picture of the Tsuba on their site is attached) . Steven, I do not see pronounced tekkotsu even if the iron on the mimi somewhere shows some "granularities"
  14. Hi, I purchased this tsuba recently which is similar in design (Tsurigane - 釣り鐘) with one in Sasano's "early Japanese sword guards - page 116". Would you consider mine a Kanatyama school too ? Thank you for your views.

    Higo Tsuba?

Hi, I have little idea about a school. Could it be higo ? Your views please.`....
  22. A variation mix of heianjo zogan . No idea about the school....In my opinion the suaka plugs are original to the tsuba.
  23. agreed. No good reason for that price but the collection name (Lecuir collection). The vast majority of the tsuba sold that day were over priced.
  24. Stephen, a printed list is not available anymore. As I attended the sale, I have all prices noted in my catalogue. Should you want a price at hammer for any of the 109 tsuba sold that day, please ask. The Kiami tsuba N° 99 has been sold at 1300 € (hammer price)
  25. From an auction in France in 2012 (from a very famous old french collection ) :https://piasa.auction.fr/_fr/lot/nagamaru-gata-en-fer-3594027
