  1. Nice work and patina would have to be restored imho
  2. Thanks Thomas. There are so many different opinions from high valued experts in this forum that the only solution will consist in having NBTHK validation. I do not pretend NBTHK knows more than NMB members but the certificate is generally considered as a strong clue.
  3. Surprised that nobody mentioned Somin school . Please find herewith a shishi dog from Yokotani Somin school (Attributed to Yakatoni Muneoki)

    Kodai

Hi every tosugu experts. Kodai refers generally to higo school, Kodai Higo meaning late edo generation tsubako. I do not see this terminology for other schools (Kodai Akasaka, Kodai Umetada, Kodai Choshu, etc...) Is there any reason ? Thank you Bruno
  7. My Moon & Bats . Nara school ?

    somen

What I know from my different readings of articles, is that 90% of the somen masks on the market are copies. I know nothing about somen mask and probably yours is a real stuff.
  9. Thanks Grev! That's mainly why I purchased it. It was in harmony with the global design of the tsuba.

    Fake - Real ?

    Chinese fakes
  16. Mine
  17. Hi, I have this mino goto tsuba and looking closer at the inlays I have detected what could be considered as some kanji. Is it in my dreams or can it be a kind of hidden signature ? Thank you for your views.
  18. Jeremiah, is it the same tsuba ? http://www.militaria.co.za/nmb/topic/23354-sankei-tsuba-for-sale/
  19. Similar one....
  20. Brian, thank you for your kind comment and so happy to have you playing this very difficult role as a moderator. Hopefully the NMB can rely on you to keep on having a community respecting all points of views.
  21. So as a conclusion, trends provide 3 directions: 1-modern fake tsuba ==》 no school 2- Higo school (Kanshiro?) 3- Akasaka (either Tadatoki 4th gen. or Tadamasa 2nd gen.) After some pictures provided privately by Sebastien (Gunome on NMB), I'll tend to think this tsuba beeing Akasaka. Thank you all of you (even Christian ) for your interest. have a nice week end all of you!
  22. Chris, don't worry, all tsuba shown on NMB since several weeks are either fakes or modern reproduction even if they are coming from well known European collections since one century at least
  23. Martin, it is said that seppa-dai form is a kantei point. I excluded akasaka school which is supposed to have a peak form at the top (and not rounded like mine) as Mauro exemple can show....
  24. Dimesions are: 7cm × 6,5 cm (ie 2 3/4 inch × 2 1/3 inch)
