Hi translator friends, When I purchased this tsuba some years ago, the seller told me that the kanji on it was expressing a sutra from the Hokke Nichiren Buddhist sect. I strongly wish to know exactly what is said as a pray on my tsuba. Would someone be kind enough to translate it ? Thank you on advance Best regards

Hi estimated members, I tried and failed in having a NTHK certificate translation for this tsuba under the translation assistance threads and try again. I guess this tsuba is from Awa Shoami but can someone confirm that the NTHK has the same views? Thank you

Hi This tsuba is mentionned in the Manzino collection has being signed by SOYO of the Yokoya school. Comparing the signature with certified SOYO signature, the second kanji doesn't match. Therefore can you help me in determining what is this second kanji ? Thank you Bruno

Thank you Steve. Based on the information you brought to me, this 伊藤政備, might be read as Ito Masanari. There is one from the Odawara Ito school being the adopted son of Masanari first generation and a student of MasaTsugu who signed this way. He is one of the two listed in Haynes under reference 04293 and 04294.

This tsuba has been mounted several time on different blades. Last one was probably smaller than the former one and a copper add on has been set up to have the tsuba fixed closely with the blade. This former blade might be a pole arm , naginata, yari explaining the nakago ana initial shape.

Hi, I have plenty of questions about this tsuba: 1- What are the kanji meaning on the seals ? 2- I read the signature as Yoshi Hiro . Is it right? If so, Is it customary to sign this way and Is it a kantei point which might me know who was this artist ? Thank you for your help. Bruno

I have this Daigoro Tsuba with Mother-of-pearl and ivory inlays. Do you think inlays are original to the tsuba or added more recently ? Thank you Bruno
