    Daisho tsuba

Hi Colin these are very common tsuba you can find easily on the web. They have been mass produced during the meiji area.
  5. Hi, You can google "tsuneshige 常重 tsuba" and compare. This tsuba looks fine to me!
  6. Hi Jimi, A great experience and a great thank you for the 2 tsuba arrived home today. "Perfect in all ways" never had better definition (communication, packaging and beauty of the tsuba).

Hi Jeremy, my menuki are mumei and I have no information on a school or any tsubako. Nevertheless I can't resist in sharing a tsuba of mine on the same topic!

I would consider these animals not being otters but more probably weasels know as being very fine predators. My weasels eating a bird.... herewith (purchased to an estimated membre on this site)

  10. Jean, These empty boxes are not really more valuable without the related tosogu. I had by the past two empty boxes with generic description as heianjo marugata tsuba or mumei saotome marugata tsuba and it was easy to find such pieces to have them matched with the boxes. First of all you have to get a translation of these hakogaki.

  13. Woua! Steve! It was quick! I am so impressed! Thank you su much for having found this sutra translation.
  14. Hi translator friends, When I purchased this tsuba some years ago, the seller told me that the kanji on it was expressing a sutra from the Hokke Nichiren Buddhist sect. I strongly wish to know exactly what is said as a pray on my tsuba. Would someone be kind enough to translate it ? Thank you on advance Best regards
  15. I can't resist in posting a mamako tsuba picture from:https://nihonto.com/miyamoto-musashi / A least a thread on Myamoto Musashi deserves a picture of one of his tsuba (at least attributed to him)
  16. Thank you so much Mauro
  17. Thank you so much Steve!
  18. Jussi, Thank you for your insight. I am used to NBTHK certificate where all description is on the same certificate side. Here it is....
  19. Thank you very much Steve. I am quite desapointed to consider that someone a spent money to get a certificate describing what is obvious to everyone.
  20. Hi estimated members, I tried and failed in having a NTHK certificate translation for this tsuba under the translation assistance threads and try again. I guess this tsuba is from Awa Shoami but can someone confirm that the NTHK has the same views? Thank you
  21. Hi, Can you be kind enough to translate this certificate main information ? Thank you Bruno
  22. Thank you Okan and Steve. That was fast ! But when I check this signature with the various SoYo generations, nobody signed this way . Gimei probably....
  23. Hi This tsuba is mentionned in the Manzino collection has being signed by SOYO of the Yokoya school. Comparing the signature with certified SOYO signature, the second kanji doesn't match. Therefore can you help me in determining what is this second kanji ? Thank you Bruno
