Hi and thank you for the replies! The sword has not been cleaned (at least since we acquired it). Here are some additional photos to help with identification. The handle of the sword has gold colored monkeys, and what we think is stingray skin. I tried with limited success to get good photos of these. The other photo is of the 'butt' of the sword. Andrea

Hi there! I found this board while searching for information regarding a sword my father in law has had for many years. There are 6 symbols, plus a chrysanthemum at the very top. I can get more pictures if needed. Thanks in advance!! Andrea
