  1. Hello Stephen Its on feebay, search ww2 sword you will find it ebay seller: the_ozzy_samurai im not exactly sure the exact specs as i have not gone over the blade with a tape but i know the cutting edge it 66cm or 26", probably not the greatest images from my iphone, its a fairly light wieght sword compared to the others, its thinner and not as broad or beefy if that makes sense? it has been used but is still in pretty good shape, cheer's Julian

  4. Hey mate cheers for that extra information, that pic in book is spot on to the mei on my Katsumasa, can i assume he himself signed this blade not a student or appreantice? im not sure what the hot stamps actually mean either i thought it was a private seal as tho forged in his private forge and recieves the arsenal stamp when entering the military line? cheer's Julian
  5. Hello Grey, Thanks mate for that i apprieciate the support,im no expert, i do try to figure them out before asking for help but sometimes i just need to use someone's else's brain, thanks Julian
  6. Hey guys so i purchased this today as a bit of a impulse buy,am i wrong or is this katsumasa or something masa?Thank you Julian
  7. Thanks Rich, i have had 3 kanenori's over the years all seem to be nice blades,1st Nagamitsu, but all Kanenori's seem to be very nice even down to the pattern they make on tang with a file its near flawless straight lines, here is kanenori tang i have yet to take pics of Nagamitsu
  8. Hey guys, I recently got my dirty little mitt's on 2 swords in excellent shape both in full high grade type 98 mounts, Nagamitsu and Kanenori, so i heard before that kanenori is ranked as a 1 million yen smith? im pretty sure he is up there with some of the better smiths from WW2 era is this true and how or where do i find a list of this information? and im not sure about Nagamitsu i have heard he is meant to go alright on the hammer too?,cheer's Julian
  9. Thanks heaps for all the feedback guys,i appreaciate all the links and information on this blade, will have some better pics in few days, i probably post them in the military section as it may be getting a little off topic for this section as we know who its meant to be so far,the blade has a wave hamon, cutting edge 26",sori is about normal compared to most others i have had from this era, cheer's Julian
  10. But it is legit isn't it? maybe his sword signer was having a bad day,i did hear that some or most smiths had people to carve the mei in,they just wrote it on in marker or something? dont bash me but thats what i heard off an older guy a while back,as i have had 2 kanenori's from WW2 era together and both had different depth and width of tool used and one looks more cleanly cut other maybe a rush job getting close to beer o'clock?
  11. I havent taken and good images of it yet,but its in early to mid war Type 98 high grade mounts with metal scabbard,i found a pic like this after alot of stuffing around, looks like im on the right track
  12. Hey guys,so i picked up this recently can anyone help with signature? i have had a look online but trying to match up from pics is getting to me,im not the best with these signatures i only know a few symbols by eye, thank you kindly Julian
  13. Want to sell it to me? Julian
  14. Hello John, Thanks heaps brother i appreaicate your help, you are a legend sorry but i been out drinking since 11am after today haha about 15 beers later im glad to have answwer, its a hard life being aussie haha!!! so can i ask why he has high grade mounts is he a reasonable smith?
  15. I have this gunto with a signature that i cannot seem to find anywhere,i cant even identify 1 symbol i have spent a few hours on it without an success, thank you if there is someone that can help,it has high grade early war mounts which gives me some hope it maybe not the lowest rank smith but the re-mounted tang hole looks to be done the same WW2 era so maybe he isnt a good sword smith at all haha, any help is much appreaciated thanks Regard's Julian
  16. Nice Doug, well done! since i missed out on the copper handle varient im going to treat myself to a Shinto era in Gunto mounts its in great shape,it should help me get over the recent obsession of type 95's im not a fan of machine blades but as we all know copper handles make it worth a mint, even tho its maybe $5 worth of copper I will keep an eye out Tom's Copper handle varient, but by the sound of its condition and low numbers im sure it will push the $5000 AU mark easy Julian
  17. yeah i made an offer on it this morning $2500 got knocked back,in the process of messeging him to try and see what he would accept and bam it sold on me Julian
  18. Sorry guy's i did read the previous comment on this thread,i thought i would provide links anyways for those who may have just read this thread and scroll straight down, and that fake type 95's link was just for laugh's although im sure the person who won it wont be laughing to hard once some research is done,i will have to change my account name,i used to sell alot of ww2 Japanese swords with that name via ebay so i used it on here, sorry Julian
  19. So did anyone see that auction finish today for the copper handle NCO for around $5260 AU ? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/162049285590?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT or this NCO sword, correct me if im wrong it seem's just a little odd http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/322087263618?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  20. Wow that is a crazy price for sure!! might be time to sell it haha
  21. Actually i think your on the right path Brian, i remember reading somewhere ages ago about the new technique and steel used meant to make them stronger or better then your average gunto blade, but are we really going to test that? i saw one cut in half to expose core steel in a book, im still pretty sure many smiths made these type of blades for some exibition and the number in kanji symbol on spine relates to the smith who made it,but im sure that paperwork is long gone so who know's who made what?but yeah overall the blade doesnt appear to be anything special as to other gunto blades,i think more work went into the tang,as the hamon is nothing special as seen in pics
  22. Hello George, Thanks heaps for the great information, i knew someone out there would be able to help its the first time i have ever that symbol stamped on these type of fittings or anywhere really so i was a little curious of its origin or meaning, i got told by another collector that most of those stamped Kabu's where only for high ranked officers like an officers club type of thing? i seem to only find them on high grade mounts which i can assume is very early war, i have only ever seen a handful of swords with these stamps each one i saw i purchased so i know its kind of rare or should i say not so common maybe? Thanks, Julian
  23. Yes i know what you guy's mean i paid$3000 for it, the mounts are good and clean as is the blade, and razor sharp, only because of that mei makes it $$, im no expert but from i understood those blades where like meant to be the best from the best smith's even tho ll where signed with same name for some exibition or show?making it hard to tell who made what? as i said i dont claim to be an expert so dont bash me too hard but that is what i thought those blades where for?
  24. Thanks for the link i had alrady checked that site, and the books i have on my PC and i cant find that random marking anywhere same goes for the spiked circle on the others
