  1. Be more careful with your other swords John. I guess your katanas are much much sharper than your tanto. Splendid collection you have. I envy you.
  2. I found this gunto in an antique shop in Indonesia(Jakarta). in poor condition indeed. probably a machine made gunto, some of its fittings are missing. I'm wondering about the patina on the tang. this is a mumei sword and seem to have a very small stamp mark on the tang ( 3mm tall stamp) ... the pictures are not so good since it was taken in a hurry. the blade it self seem like too bright / it might been polished using some kind of metal polish. its a sharp sword indeed. the quetion is , do the patina on the tang seem real/genuine?? (not artificial made.)

  6. Hi Johnb, I'm based in Jakarta too. west Jakarta , Have you ever look at the antique market in surabaya street? I used to look for swords in that place...but you have to make a smart bargain there. I send you a PM . I really like the tanto you found for $100...like to see it since I never see a tanto before... it would be nice if you can help me with my sword. regards, ferry
  7. I cant find the fittings. but I know it was mounted in wood saya covered with brown leather, cant find the fittings. it might been sold to other person.
  8. good day all... I'm a new member in this board. I'd like to ask for your opinion. I have these sword since 6 months ago.mumei sword. I'm an Indonesian, found this sword in an antique store in Indonesia...is it a nihonto or else??? any information would be great. regards, ferry
  9. good day all, since the Japanese landed in Indonesia there is a possibility that Japanese swords were left in the country...as far I only find these piece. the blade only, no koshirae...or fittings. how do you think guys??? regards, ferry
