  1. Ahh yep, I see it now! One more question, can you zoom in with the PDF to see the nature of the iron? If you know what I mean. That might make the E-Book more valuable to me...
  2. Grev - That looks great, is it only available in ebook format or can I get it printed? Thanks, Pat
  3. I realize I am resurrecting a 3 year old thread but would like to know if there are now any current books that fit some or all of the previous posters "ideal" criteria? Or anything even close?
  4. Interesting, Kaneie Saku it is then!
  5. Yeah, found another example. Usually though, there are Kanji on both sides of the seppa but in this case, there was only Kanji on the left.
  6. The first 2 kanji read Kaneie but what about the 3rd?

    My New Tsuba

Could be Mito, and for that matter, it also could be Nara? Pat
  8. Yeah, agree with late Edo Tosho. I do have a question, most of the early ones do not have the outline around the seppa and hitsu. Would this outlining be a clue for later ones?

    My New Tsuba

I am only just starting study in these types of Tsuba but would venture a guess that this might be an Aizu Shoami school piece. Anyone one else have an idea?

    Hallucination?

I can not see them... Can you point them out to us? By the way, looks like a nice Tsuba.
  11. Can anyone read the school attribution for it? I tried but was not able to figure it out.
  12. Which show are you referring to?
  13. John - Interesting, I had not heard of this Tani school up until now. Have you done any research into this school? And know of any characteristics that might suggest such an attribution? I have a tsuba en route to me with a similarly wide rim though it has a rounded "square" edge where yours and the one I originally posted are squared off edges. I am having a hard time placing mine and hope when I have it in hand, I might find additional clues... Pat
  14. Yeah, there certainly are some. Couldn't you just as easily argue for a Shoami attribution, though?
  15. Here ya go...
  16. It said, of course, Katchushi. Can’t you tell from the raised rim? Oh, wait a second!
  17. Florian - Did you mean to say "some" doubts rather than "no" doubts? Because I struggle to see how they could have come up with that call. Anyone want to take a stab at it?
  18. I am also eagerly awaiting that pre-order button! Please take my $$$
  19. As subject states, what school do you think this papered to? (reason I ask is that I was surprised) Length : 8.75cm x 8.64 cm (3.44 inches x 3.40 inches) Thickness of rim :0.41 cm ( 0.16 inches)

    Spoils Of War

My favs are : Picture 1 : Agree with Jean, Tembo (upper right) Picture 2 : Crescent moon Tosho Picture 3 : Agree with Jean, the Mokko Gata one with great hammer work and patina!
  21. Look closely on inside walls for any signs of flashing?
  22. As the subject states, what would you say your favorite online places to purchase Tsuba are? I know there are tons of links but would be interested in what your favorites are. Thanks!
  23. Yeah, I could not detect evidence of casting either. Like Grey mentioned, it looks like a Jakushi.
  24. Thanks!
  25. Was looking at this Tsuba and noticed that the inner edges were straight cut (see image 2) versus rounded like the outer edge. Just wondered if that called into question anything about this Tsuba?
