  1. Proxy Services automatically block bidders when an auction contains a keyword such as "sword". This is because such items require special permits in order to export. If you are buying a book, contact the Proxy Service, they will unblock the item. Then you can bid. I run a Proxy Service, bidding manually from Japan, and doing export permits as necessary. I discuss with customers before bidding, so they understand what is required.
  2. I have not been doing blades for the last few years, but happy to be of service with tosogu, samurai armor and general antiques. I'm afraid I am very poor at checking in here, sorry, so by all means mail me at kschmidt1127@gmail.com Kelly Schmidt Himeji, Japan

  8. Hi Everybody, I have a customer in Germany who has many matchlock stocks, barrels and parts which he had collected with the intention of having his restorer there put them together. However, his restorer has suddenly passed away, so he is looking for a new restorer nearby who could do this work. If any of you know of someone, I'd appreciate to hear from you! Thanks, Kelly Schmidt
  9. As far as I know, one must be a Japan resident for both. I am not 100% sure in the case of Winners, but in any case, Japanese language ability a must. I buy blades for my overseas customers on both platforms. Over 150 to date. EMS now reopened to the US, so again able so send blades economically and quickly. PM me for more info ~ Kelly Schmidt
  10. Have bought for my overseas customers. Smooth and professional. No issues... well, if you speak Japanese. Not sure if anyone there speaks English. Kelly
  11. Full koshirae, full blades, and even full armors, no problem (depending on country...). I export them daily. Buyee will deny shipping under various circumstances, such as: antiques and weapons requiring export permits. They apparently don't know how to do the permits. items (like armors) packed too big (by EMS, over 1.5m, or girth+length over 3.0; by DHL over 1.2 m). They haven't a clue how to pack an armor small enough Ask before you buy! Kelly
  12. I thank you for your votes of confidence, gentlemen! However, in this case, I am afraid that I am in the same boat. I recently bought a new shark skin saya for a customer (with out thinking first...) and later I felt it may be an issue to export, so am now trying to resell it on Yahoo in Japan. I'll probably lose my shirt, but I pushed the button, so... I shall certainly be happy to bid for you on other items with no animal product issues, so by all means, if you would like to join my mailing list, just PM me. Sorry I cannot be of help in this case. Kelly Schmidt
  13. The hitsu box, dou cuirass and sangu (sleeves, loin guard and shin guards) seem to be Edo era, but the kabuto may not be. A little fresh and koshimaki brim a little strange design... In any case, not matching to the rest.
  14. Hi Andy. Unique Japan in Tokyo is well experienced and can take care of you. Talk to Pablo: Feel the history ™ « Unique Japan Kelly Schmidt
  15. Thank you, Gentlemen ~ 宜しくお願い致します。 Yoroshiku onegai itashimasu.
  16. Hi Dan, I can do so in cases of "emergency", like for example, when the items are bought, really wanted by the buyer, and then the seller or proxy company (like Buyee) says they won't ship them. Can you show me the items you bought, please? (send links in a PM). Note, DHL does not send any blade/weapon items. My usual fee is 15% of win price/min 6000 yen/item. Plus shipping and paypal fees. DHL shipping for small box of tosogu, for example, is usually about 7500 yen.
  17. You do NOT have to wait 2 months! I can buy on Yahoo auctions for you and send to Australia, USA and other blocked countries by DHL. Takes just a few days. Only blades have to go by EMS (now blocked to Australia and USA) or seamail. My blade exporter is also working on a UPS contract to send blades... hopefully ok'd soon...
  18. DHL for non-blade items is easy - IF the seller can get a contract with them. Seller must be a company and jump through some hoops to get a contract, so many sellers don't do DHL. I send via DHL only since spring when Covid hit. PM me if you wish to buy and send via DHL.
  19. Hi Dan, The US has been blocked for EMS since March. Perhaps he did not know until he checked after the auction. DHL and Fedex do not take weapons, and yes, it is hard to get contracts with them in any case. I have customers waiting for months now - fortunately, I knew and was able to inform them before they bought. Afraid sea mail is your only option right now...
  20. Congrats, Boris! おめでとうございます!
  21. I checked various sites here, but found only one reference, and it was sold out. Mailed directly to Sano Museum, but probably won't get answer as it is closed now due to Corona. Will let you know if I hear. Kelly Schmidt Japanese Antique Auctions.
  22. Yes, maybe. The PDF in the link does not list Australia, but maybe they haven't updated it for a few days...
  23. Yes, I got that too... She says: A. she can't send blades. B. she can send other items by EMS. Both statements seem a bit off to me... perhaps owing to poor translation. A. Blades are sent by EMS, just like other items. Of course, they need Japan Customs clearance before sending out. True, this takes longer than the cheaper items with no export permit, as items are piling up, but they can be sent. B. EMS items can be sent... BUT only if your country is not on the blocked list. DHL, Fedex perhaps faster as I belive they have their own customs systems. Here is the note I am including on my mail outs: Please note that air mail to some countries is presently blocked (see PDF here: https://www.post.japanpost.jp/int/information/2020/0401_02_en.html ) Even if your country is not on the list, there are few planes flying and Customs here is piled up... There will be delay. Seamail an alternative... Kelly Schmidt Japanese Antique Auctions
