Japanese SNLF/NLF did have tanks. Why romance the sword? Possibly it simply belonged to a short person!

I've owned & seen many short army service dress swords. These certainly aren't for airmen or tankers! I don't buy the myth. Let's face it some Japanese were very short! Other cases are short family blades used for gunto.

As mentioned already, sword in photo with officer doesn't look like same sword at all. I also don't understand how reading of tang can point towards owner. Maybe it's just me. My favorite saying is "buy the item not the story".

I'd do a small test. Most if not all products will either darken or change color of old leather.

You mention tan/brown. Aren't the army tassels more a "rust' orange brown as compared to dark brown (chocolate shade) for navy?
