  1. I'm looking for a recommended Saya Maker by the name of Samuel Rediske. I see some activity from several years ago but wondering if he is still active. I would appreciate any contact information for him. I'm looking to have a Saya made for this sword pictured. I've shown this sword prior to having Tsuka rebuilt by David McDonald and very happy with that who was recommended to me from these boards. http://i801.photobucket.com/albums/yy298/WildPike96/2012-11-22224219-1.jpg http://i801.photobucket.com/albums/yy298/WildPike96/2012-11-22220956.jpg ________________________________ David P
  2. I'm adding a few pics I took outdoors, hopefully it will show a little more of what you need to see on the blade. Does anyone have any suggestions of who could do this type of work and would this blade warrant that kind of investment? Thanks for all the information and yes I do need to work on my photo skills. 4. I have a few questions about a recent purchase. I would be very interested to know 1. What you believe the age of this blade to be? 2. It has a chip on edge and I'm wondering if this can be repaired or do I just have to learn to live with it? 3. I've tried to take some pictures of the blade, I'm not quite sure what is going on in this blade and would appreciate any information you can give me. When I received this sword it was missing it's Tsuba and Fuchi. The blade measures just under 27 inches now but looks to have been shortened at least a couple of times. It must have been a pretty long sword in it's day. I cannot see any markings on the nakago. Any information will be greatly appreciate and I look forward to your comments. http:// http:// http:// http:// http:// http:// _____________ Dave P

  6. I'm looking for a litle help with a purchase I just made today. I would be interested to find out if this a forged blade. I've included pics of the tang, I would be very interested in knowing what the signature says. I've also included a pic of what I believe is a tan stamp, which I'm unable to identify. I've included a pic of the end of the tang which is strange to me, but not sure with my limited knowledge if it is strange. I've also included pics of the little collar piece off of the scabbard, I'm wondering if anyone has seen marking similar to this. I'm also interested in locating some parts for this scabbard, I believe it is a field scabbard and it uses friction retension and is missing the hangar, leather cover and possibly a collar piece. I would interested to find out if there is someone out there that makes reproductions of these parts? Thanks in advance for any help. http:// [url] http:// http:// http:// http:// http:// http:// http:// http:// _____________ David P
  7. The Tsuba measures 3 2/16 inches wide, 3 3/16 inches high (almost completely round).I'm not completley certain how to measure the nakago ana, but what I came up with is 7/16 across the bottom and 1 3/16 inches high, that is iron to iron not counting the copper. I appreciate your help and the pictures are great. __________ David P.
  8. First off I want to apologize for the quality of these pics. I did not take them they were sent to me see if I was interested in this sword. The pics of the sword do not help to identify i realize, but I'm hoping the tang signature might help to come up with something. This is a Wakizashi size blade approximately 18-20 inches in length with a plain iron tsuba, supposedly the tip is fine, realizing not able to view it. I may just have to take the drive and check this out. Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated. http:// [url]/url] _____________ David P.
  9. I guess one of the things I should have said was that I knew it was forged, because it has that ring to it when you tap it that a forged tsuba should have Thanks Geraint for the link, that looks like a near exact match to this one, and good news. _________ DavidP.
  10. I moved this over from Nihonto seeking information about this Tsuba. About all I know it is made of Iron and it appears to be a crane. Any information would be greatly appreciated. http:// http:// ____________ David P
  11. George, now that you say laquered paper that does make sense, it does have a feel of some kind of paper. Something else I might mention within this wrap there is also string. Appreciate the comments. _____________ David P.

  14. I received so much positive information and I mentioned I had another sword I am in need of information about. It appears to be a very old sword but I'm a lil puzzled by the blade. I have been unable to find this shape, it seems to have a strong curve. The top fulller comes back, but the top fuller stops a few inches short of the Tsuba. There is no mark on the tang and it is very dark and smooth. I would be interested in information on this Tsuba, this one also has another trashed handle and I can see why, the material for wrapping it is crumbling like old paper. I really like sword it has a nice feel when in hand. Thanks in advance for any and all information you can provide. I am learning alot. http:// http:// http:// http:// http:// http:// _________ David P
  15. Lee, The Tsuba fits like a glove, and I planned on keeping all the parts I've received with this sword. I just feel I should keep it as found. Thanks for the advice. __________ David P.
