Hello Forum, I believe it is the same guy that was selling many "Japanese Blades", previously with a different "Vendor" names. I did buy one from him, , after many post from Forums was asking about the authenticity of the Mei on these Blades. There was several vendors selling "These types" of Blades. Jussi E. was kind enough to help research the Blade, when another member was asking about the Mei, on this Blade , than I bought. https://sbg-sword-forum.forums.net/thread/50501/help-sword-signature I paid $530 for this Blade.

Good Morning, You guys remember those old stop motion photography..like Sinbad, Jason and the Argonauts? For some reason, I can imagine this statue staring to move.. first, looking around, then, trying to step off the Platform. Then looking down, and, seeing his/her feet attached to the base. Then, trying to lift their foot off, breaking the bond from the platform. From The 7th Voyage of Sinbad. Kannon in the ChamBara scene :

Hello Members.. Good Morning from Hawaii Thank you gentlemen, Henry, Thank you.. I just bought one from Amazon. All those books are in Japan.

Thank You John, I was looking it up on the 'net.Only had those Beautiful Japanese Presentation Envelopes. It is hard to imagine, that they would do all that intricate carvings, and then, burn them. Looks like they are wood, but, could they be like a wood fiber powder, mixed with lacquer, and then press/stamped/molded into these Kodens? And, not carved by hand? and, could they have some kind of "Value" as "themselves" at that time? Still represent some type/kind of "currency". as, I wonder about the randomly placed symbols/Kanji on the Reverse. Thanks for posting Guys.

Hello Members , StevenK , Thanks for the Nam-myoho-renge-kyo Good readings there.. Oh Henry ( one of the best Candy Bar made ) , I bought this without even thinking about that.. but, it was from Katsuhiro-san, a gentleman in Japan, that sells Buddist Statues. ( Confidence builder on my part ) I've been on You Tube , trying to watch every video on Buddhist Statues. Begin Japanology, Core Kyoto, all the Asian Antique videos. I'm still in the phase of learning the different Facial expressions and conveyance of the Kannon faces. The body/Torso was not as slim as the Indian/Tibetan figures. This Kannon I have, seems to have a lean , muscular Torso. More like a male, than a female type body. I just looked at mine.. "He" does look, like he has a "Pot Belly" . ..

I got this about a month ago (?).. Craftsmanship was remarkable, .. " I just had to have it " ... I was searching the 'net.. Amazingly, nothing. So, maybe member's might "enlighten" me with what I got. I thought, from remembering things i read/head thru the years, that this might be some kind of currency. Did not have, or use "Precious" metals for "coinage". From a town or company/Family. The randomly placed symbols would be some kind of counter counterfeiting device/system. Used with an authenticating template. Hey, Big... search your "Japanese Magic Browser " for me I got Google ... mostly advertising.. Thanks for viewing.. Alton

Hello Forum Members, As I dwindle in my twilight years, I have turned to a different path, towards "enlightenment". As paradoxically as it seems, I am still buying (Possessing desirable things). The term "Japanese Collectibles" is a Paradox in it's self.. Here is my Buddha and Kannon Stautes for my Buddhist Alter that I am making in my Room. I was looking for a Big Butsudan ( Japanese Buddhist Alter) They are price like Nihonto. I got to make my own Alter. The Wooden Standing Buddha Statue , about 19 inches tall. said to be from the Edo Period ( 200 + years ) and, wooden Kannon - Goddess of Mercy about 35 inches tall. Seems to me, they belong in a Museum or dedicated Showroom. Namu Amida Butsu Alton Takata

Speaking about Hon-Ami Koetsu, I go this Chawan, that has something to do with Hon-Ami Koetsu. Who is KAO? Hey Evan, would you know? Guys, Please, what is written on the top and under the top lid?

When two great artist collaborate.. Like Mifune and Kurosawa Speaking of Mifune, I watched many Miyamoto Musashi Movies, and, many have Musashi spending a lot of time with/around Honami Koetsu. But, according to the written history, they did not seem to be that close. If you really want to get into Honami and Sotatsu, study the Rinpa School of Art. Also, try watching Suichi Kato's documentry about the Rinpa School and how it he feels it changed the world of Art.

I agree.. I love those guys.. I watched this so many times already, and, I still do. Sound track matches the complexity, up's and down's of the Togishi. A cool insight of the life of Yuichi and Yuki. I did not know there was two made, with different commentator. Here is the other: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=keKlbOwB1xE&t=708s Wonderful show to watch.. -

Hello Guys, Hi Eric I don't know if this will help. I just got this Kayakuire... Looks like an Egg Plant shape. The parts on the Netsuke move. The top trigger is spring loaded. I am just getting into Japanese firearms, after watching Kagemusha.. Thought this was a nice little collectable to have. Alton Takata -

Hello Guys, Thought I'd post/show a Japanese Mother and Child Statue. I got his a while back. I'm not sure if this "qualifies" as a Japanese Okimono. Painted Pewter? The Mother's smile was so charming, I had to get it. The "Tree/Wood Stock' next to the Mother and Child Statue, was "made" be me.. I found it in a pile of tree trimmings that someone threw out. I aged it and stained it.. Now, it looks kinda authentic "Japanese"..

About the Tachi... Thanks for your thoughts Jussi.. 2. Noritsune I notice that this does not have a paper. Noritsune is quite rare name, most of them are early Bizen smiths and few other early smiths too. Could you show the signature on this tachi? If it is legitimate signature it is highly valuable. Of course there is always possibility of an unknown smith. Attached is a page with a "highlighted" section , that came with the Tachi. The Nakago Mei, and, Koshi Bi on the Tachi Blade. Thanks for viewing and helping.. Alton

Hi Guys, Thanks for posting Jussi. 1. If you have attribution to Gisuke it means Shimada Yoshisuke. 1st gen (Gisuke) would be in the middle of 1400's. There are 9 gens coming up until mid 1700's. I'd guess a long hira-zukuri wakizashi like that one could be from 1500's. I do remember "somehow linking" Shimada to that name. Attached is the Origami :

Hi guys.. Thank you Chris.. It was the "Nagayama definitions " stuff I was interested in learning about. ( Just learned that from paulb ) About the "remove a flaw".. I thought of that too, a while back. Thanks for posting Chris Paulb, leads down a different path/approach. I was only looking at it from the Bohi side. Wonder if it was to remove little weight, (from the total) in the middle , as, not to disturbed the overall balance? Too little to be effective for weight savings? Here is my Wakizashi , with similar Koshi Bi ( using my newly learned knowledge already ).. As decoration, kinda makes the Sword look cool. That is why I bought it.. Thanks guys.. Have a safe Saturday Night Alton

Hello Guys, I think I finally got "My Collection".. I was trying to "Collect" the different " Blade Shapes Throughout the Ages", as, the popular display of Blades, used in that photo everyone sees.. Hello Guys, I was always fascinated with the Hi.. (BoHi) . Often, there was only the general description of "what it is".. I ask others, and it seems it is not "important", as, they do not address the "non-standard" types of grooves. I was searching and I found this at Markus Sesco's Translation and Research Services for Japanese Art and Antiques . Link for those that did not see his site: https://markussesko.com/2015/02/25/kantei-1-sugata-3/ This article by Markus has the most info I have seen yet.. Photo below.. This is my Tachi. This is the " Hi " , I was searching for, to learn more about this style/pattern. Anyone like to add about this short double Hi on the Blade? I'd like to know, as, I could not find it on that page.. Thanks for viewing. Alton
