Thank you Piers. HAWLEY listed several Nagamitsu, with only three signing as Bishu Osafune Nagamitsu (NA 153, NA 154, NA 155) and none signed as Bishu Osafune Ju Nagamitsu. That's why I'm not so confident of my translation. I think I can rule out NA 155 (active in 1504 - too late for the sword), but cannot not decide between NA 153 and NA 154 as they were active at the same time (3rd and 4th generations of the same Nagamitsu family line) and signed the same way. Go figure! Hoanh

Hello Everyone, The attached mei is very difficult for me to read. I can only be certain of parts of it. I think it reads "Bishu Osafune Ju Nagamitsu" but the kanji just don't look right. Any help is appreciated. Thank you, Hoanh

My sword is in a good polish, but I have no idea if it's good enough to submit for shinsa. I have arranged with Mr. Benson to send pics for his opinion of getting a new polish or not. If it does require a new polish, I won't submit for shinsa. If it does not need a new polish, yah, shinsa here we come! Hoanh

Good morning all, I have a Nambokucho (possibly late Kamakura) katana I would like to submit to NBTHK shinsa. Does anyone on this board know of a reputable third-party shinsa service he/she would recommend? I have been up and down the web, but nothing beats a recommendation from people on this board. Hi Everyone, I just acquired a mumei katana and would value your expert opinions. I did my best to translate the horimono and it looks like "Hachiman Dai Bosatsu." Please correct me if I am wrong. The nakago is 6.5", nagasa 29", sori 9/16", total length 36", chu-kissaki. I am guessing that the katana is late Edo, but that's just a guess. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you, Hoanh
