  1. Hi Ken , It is a Spanish made reproduction Japanese style dagger , i have seen many of them in Spain in souvenir shops over the years .
  2. Hi Colin , if not the auction houses words perhaps the wishfully thinking of the last owner , but either way , you are right some Idiots description .
  3. Hi Colin , I had a good giggle when i seen his numerous posts and descriptions
  4. Hi Luh . I hope you got the right saya with that sword when i looked at them in the auction room, the auction house !! had the Saya's mixed up as there were two navel swords in the auction ,presumably when they were photographing the tangs . i did change them back , but who knows who was handling them in the Auction , that politely did not know what saya was for the right blade .
  5. Do you mean Aberdeen / Scotland ? if so man years ago there was an antique dealer in Aberdeen that collected and sold Japanese swords , but i can't remember the name of the shop ! if you are interested join the UK Token society , they have reginal meetings in Scotland and there is usually swords etc. for sale by the members . good luck.
  6. well nearly first to reply
  7. Paul , sorry to be the first to comment on this blade , it looks like a Chinese attempt at making a Japanese blade IMHO , the main clue for me is the miss matched Muni-machi and Ha-Machi and the tang finish is poor shape etc.
  8. Johnathan , are these swords not all in a UK Auction this week, If so ? you will be very lucky to get them at the prices you are talking about , but you never know maybe be a luck bid or two , good luck
  9. sorry 100% fake ,IMHO
  10. Hamachi and Munemachi well out of line IMHO classic replica attempt !!
  11. Dave , you can PM me and i will let you know when the next one is , or contact details .
  12. Hi Dave I am not sure when the next Scottish reginal Token Japanese sword meeting will be ! but they are normally held in Glasgow .

Hi Darren , very poor fake Tsuba IMHO , i hope you get a refund for it ?
  14. looks more like another possible fake ? but we need to see more / better pictures to be a 100% sure !!
  15. Hi Vitaly , I take it living in Ireland ! you are aware there is an " Irish Japanese sword Society " I am not sure how often they meet but it may be worth contacting them if you are not already a member ?
  16. Hi Colin , i did see these swords and wondered why they were not being sold as a Daisho , it was the dragons on the Saya that looked like a matching set to me at the time , just your luck that some auction houses do not know what they have for sale , well done , Ray

    Japanese Sword

Hal , ( do not clean or try to remove any rust from the sword and especial the tang ) a light oil will do for the moment , by the way you do have l have a proper professional trained Japanese sword polisher in Australia , check the Nihonto info on the NMB links ASAP .

Mark , ask them at the lanes , they should know , apologies' if it is not one of there ££££££££££ swords .
  19. sorry to say you are correct , anyway it is the thought behind it that counts .
  20. Hi Roger , a few years since I bought some , just got a friend to bring some back from his Japan trip , all with extra cushion/pillows and they were all under £8 each, all from Namikawa Heibei .
  21. Lukas , quick reply , Richard Adams is your guy, i am sure there are others , but Richards work is first class , sorry i do not have his contact details . Try contacting the Token Society -UK , some one will have his contact - email address or phone number . good luck .
  22. Not 100% sure but does come under the heading of a fireman's helmet ??
  23. At first glance i would say it is Ivory , if there is no Mekugi , most likely a pressure fit or glued into the Tsuka ! so it would be difficult to say much about the blade without seeing the tang . most likely a good quality tourist piece ? IMHO .
  24. I haver never heard so much BS all my collecting years ,
  25. if you are going to be there for week , it would be worth buying a Japan rail pass if you plan to do a few visits here and there , it will save you money in the long run .
