    KBT's Katana

I am lost on the hamon and activity, there is so many different shapes in it that I cant figure out which one is more prevalent. I am supposed to get an appraisal back with the blade after the tsuka is made but I wanted to try to figure it out for myself if I could . Thanks Kim

    KBT's Katana

So it would have a chu kissaki ? I measured the kissaki from a picture since I dont have the blade, I thought if the length was longer than the width it would be o kissaki . Thanks Chris for your help. And the grain would be ayasugi then with some itame ? Thanks Kim

I hope I am putting this post in the right part of the forum, if not please move it to the correct spot , thanks. I am working on learning the different parts and their names, trying to learn all I can about my blade, any help would be appreciated. This it what I've come up with so far . I hope he does not mind me mentioning his opinion. 7. Thanks Mark Kim
  8. I would like to add another question if I may, if the saya does not have a kozuka is it improper to use a tsuba with the opening for one ? Forgive me for not knowing the proper names for everything, I'm just starting to learn. Thanks Kim
  9. Thank you Ludolf, I appreciate it, its seems its a much better fuchi than I thought after some research. I have to say I was very disappointed that it was an orphan. These guys have made me feel much better. Thanks again guys for all the help. Kim
  10. Once again thank you gentlemen. Kim
  11. Thank you runagmc , much appreciated. Kim
  12. I'm having a tsuka made and I am using a replica tsuba. When I find a period tsuba that I want to use how hard is it going to be to fit it ? Will the tsuka have to be redone ? I bought menuki, fuchi kashira and an old soten tsuba that went well together but they are for a wak. The sword is already there for a tsuka so I'm going to go ahead and have one put on until I can find the parts to make it more original after I find out what that actually is. Sorry for the long story I just wanted to explain where I'm at in this project. Don't forget I know absolutely nothing about this, I'm reading and more books on the way. Thanks Kim Ps I hope this is in the right section.
  13. Sorry, to be a bother but , I immediately assumed that was a name, and I am finding it on the internet . Im finding so many I wanted to ask if this is maybe a school, area , or if indeed it is a name. Thank you Kim Ps the side of the fuchi.
  14. Thank you Nobody, lol . I hope you have a great day, now my search begins. Great bunch of guys here by the way . Kim
  15. Thank you Brian, I flipped it I thought I took the picture upside down, I didn't realize I had made it a mirror. Thanks again. Kim
  16. Dear sirs, I hate to ask for another tanslation in such a short time, but the tsuka it is going on is to be started tomorow, I am trying to find what this says. It is a orphan fuchi . Its a long story but the short version is the parts I purchased for my katana blade, due to my igonorance ended up being for a wak, so they will have to wait for my next purchase. So I plan to use this with a plain kashira , but I would like to know what it says before I use it. Many many thanks. Kim
  17. So this would be a sashikomi polish ? And if it was polished more it would be a kesho ? Kim
  18. Thanks Geraint, I guess I will have to find pictures of the work of these smiths and compare the look to the blade I have and see if any are similar ? I'm very new to this and I appreciate everyones help. Kim
  19. Thanks Adam and Chris .
  20. Thank you Jean, I'm trying to keep the stupid questions to a minimum. I thought it was like a first name or special title, now I finally see how difficult its going to be to be.
  21. Thanks, I googled no Kuni but cant find a translation, is this a title ?
  22. Wow John, Thanks, I dont know what to say, can you refer a book maybe also. Thanks again. Kim
  23. Thanks John this is the mei, I have some books coming I hope will help with my search, but any help with the direction to go would be appreciated. I'm hoping the guy I sent it to can tell me around when it was made .
  24. runagmc I did that over a month ago, there are 4 smiths or more showing up with the name Hizen Kuni Tadahiro, cant find any with Hizen no Kuni Tadahiro , I think there is a real possibility that I will never find any info and this smith but I'm going to try. I thought this would be a good place to ask having so many people interested in Nihonto, at least I feel like I have been pointed in the right direction. Thanks for the response.
  25. The guy I bought the sword from told me the cut test was sketchy, he thought the signature was real . I liked the look of the blade enough to buy it, hopefuly I didn't get burned too bad if at all. Again thanks for the response.
