Purchased a large collection of mainly European swords but had a few Japanese. Heres one he purchase 40 years ago showing how lowly WW2 military swords were thought of back then that they were purchase for next to nothing and beople jazzed them up. The blades been buffed to hell and sadly you can still see remnants of a very pretty hamon, the tang i thought was just buffed badly aswell but i think its actually chromed????!! Army saya in in a bronze metallic shade i remember my mum using on here nails back in the 70s

Wow good eyes but sadly when cleaning that area first with fine brush then needle to remove that section of paint it turned out to be crinkled paint. Blades ww2 with hot stamp and handles civilian so didnt think tsuba was old just what chap had at hand when off to war . thanks for your help gents.

Morning Chaps, have this civilian silver dragon tsuba off WW2 used sword, 80mm diameter by 5mm thick. Has a dragon and looks to be a petal mon , the sword its off has this green coating to all metal parts that i was leaving on, tsuba edge is silver black tarnished and its taken a hit which has caused a distortion in the metal as happens with softer antique silverware so thinking it may be possibly solid silver?? Any help would be appreciated cheers Phil

Hello , any idea on maker/ date on this tsuba , iron with wheat sheaf's and foliage in gilt and possibly silver accents - bird of prey hovering with gilt beak, obversestream with gilt accented foliage. Copper habaki (is it wind or clouds & rain/ catscratch?) Any help appreciated

Thankyou SteveM and Bruce , Yes mine , did you want some more photos . What I understand of the Koa Isshin swords was that they were a "Asian" patriotic blade and the steel was from the asian mainland and shipped back to Japan to produce these swords(probably got it wrong , ill sit down tonight and look up). Im such a dope , ive another of these Koa Isshin Mantetsu sword , ill pull it apart and flick you photos on weekend as may be another for your survey.
