Hi Guys I thought Komies early career was i sword fittings. A friend said it might be Komie although he had only ever seen one and that was 20 years ago. If anyone has any photos of a Komie tsuba it would be much appreciated if just for elimination. I also agree with BaZZa and think it is quite a lot earlier. Many thanks Pete

To invest is to expect profit. I think most do not regard sword collecting as an investment. -
Here are some better photos. I think this style is Komai. I was also hoping the kakihan was of a particular school. Regards Peter

Hi guys, Ford said he would take care of it. This tsuba is even brighter than in the first picture. I think it would take 20 years to tone to something really nice and i will probably be dead by then. Will show pictures when i get it back. Thanks for all comments, i like opinions from both sides of the fence. Many thanks Peterd

Hi. Picked this tsuba up for a reasonable price. Its very bright and brassy and looks in the seppa to have been Sentoku. I particularly like the face and fine hair. size 68x75mm Worth re patination or not, what do you think??

Hi, i am not too worried about security. Reasonably secure cabinet, locks on windows and doors, alarm and something big and ugly that bites, oh and the dog. Peter -
Look up damascus ?.I think this is layered steel not so many layers as traditional Japanese blades

Hi everyone, I'm going to be visiting Japan in March with my son and I would appreciate any suggestions you may have on museums, shrines and shops to see Nihonto. We're likely to be visiting areas around Kyoto, Osaka, Nara and Tokyo. Many thanks, Peter

Hi, i read on here i think that a famous Japanese potter was asked why he did not sign his work. He said his poor works would be put down to his schools work and a great school work would be put down to him.

Hi Brian. I think your right, the patina on the seppa dai seems to have been touched up. The rest of it seems fine. looks much better in hand, i think zooming in so close might not have been a good idea. I would also love to hear Fords opinion as i might be sending it to him for some restoration.
