    Hi, i have just got my second choshu hagi tsuba. I know Hagi is a place, but is it also used by a particular school as both tsuba seem better than average.

    Museums tend to use renaissance micro crystalline wax.

  6. All guess work but i would say late Edo. Looks Like it could have been mounted at one time. Leaves look like shakudo. Base metal looks like patternated shinchu (Brass) or copper.

  15. Very interesting topic. It fooled David and would have very likely fooled a beginner like myself. Copies ( casts) are getting to good.
  16. Markus Seskos Book on Tameshigiri says up to 15kg were used. Just from memory so could be wrong.

  21. Looks ok, just not the Naomitsu. There is one very close in kinko meikan Markus Sesko has him as late edo early meiji. Also known as Kajihei.
  22. I have found two by Kano Natsuo. 2004 Sothebys est £60_65,000. 2003 Christies est £100_ 120,000 both different tsuba
