  1. Hello mdiddy, thanks for taking the time to post the pages. I can usually find a good mei photo online from one of the shops or auction houses but could'nt this time. My untrained eye doesn't see too many similarities in the two "saku" mei choices from your posting, unfortunately. I'll be interested in other's opinions. Thank you again and best regards, JR Lowe
  2. Hello all, Is it possible for anyone here to verify gimei or not on this "Yoshisuke saku" tanto mei? I appreciate your time and opinions. Best, Chako J. R. Lowe
  3. Thank you both very much for your help, I do appreciate it. Best regards, C.
  4. Hello all, This war time mei has stumped my usual help. "Kane" something, correct? Can anyone read the full name? Thanks for your time and help. Best regards, Chako
  5. Thanks, Grey, for taking the time to reply. I appreciate it. Best regards, Chako
  6. Hello all, I'm am assuming that standard military mount tsuba and seppa on a wartime gendaito blade are fairly standardized and interchangeble from sword to sword if the position of the locking clip hole is the same. I also figure it would be unlikely that a habaki off another gunto would slip on and not require some re-working of the saya throat for a decent fit. Are any of these assumptions correct? Sorry about posting in the wrong Fourum initially. Thanks for any help. Best regards, Chako

    Mei help, please

Hello Wim Thank you for your help. These are the only other pictures available and not sure if they will help you or not. Best regards, Chako.
  8. Can you tell me anything about this tsuba? Thanks, C.

    Mei help, please

Hello all, Can you tell me anything about this smith? 26 1/4 inch blade has been abused, buffed and scrubbed, but I kind of like the tsuba. Thanks, C.
  10. Hello Curran. Thank you again for all of your help. Attached photos are weak but should let you get the overall feel of the tanto. Submitted for NTBHK papers last year and was a little disappointed at Hozon decision but am grateful to have been through the papering process, at least once. I like this piece a lot. Thanks and take care, Jan
  11. Thanks, everyone, for your help and opinions. It seems a shame to have shinsa only 200 miles away and not be able to take advantage of it but perhaps this is not the piece. Take care, Jan.
  12. Additonal photos
  13. Hello all, do you think the fittings in the attached photos are worth submission at the June NTHK Minnesota Show? I believe the fuchi mei is Seirindo Ichiryu Michitoshi. Kojiri Ichiryusai Masamitsu Saku. Unsure of the kozuka. Tanto is Shimada Yoshisuke according to NBTHK. Three different names on one tanto....does that work for shinsa judges? And can anyone confirm the Michitoshi mei? Thanks very much for your time and help, Jan
  14. This tanto is still in Japan but received word through Hawaii that it has papered NTBHK Tokubetsu Hozon to Shimada Yoshisuke. Happy Holidays, C.
