  1. Time travel? Remote viewing?
  2. Seppa probably; here is a sword of mine that seems reminiscent of yours, though the nakago on mine is shorter....
  3. No signature, no stamp, bad yasurime, strange hamon, strange polish, pristine gunto koshirae.....hmmmm. I am no expert, but if i were offered this I would assume it was a replica and pay accordingly, or pass.
  4. USPS has managed to misplace the International First Class package I sent to Jean in Germany over a month ago, and is not very forthcoming on where it might be....left Samoa and wasn't scanned in at Honolulu.......working on the issue. Not good news, but it is possible it is still in Honolulu. I dub him St. Jean the Patient!
  5. Ncos would wish they had that sword!
  6. Here is mine....koa and axis deer antlers, something for the shop.

Tanto and wakizashi were retained as far as i know, only long swords were checked at the door...
  9. Oddly enough i made one the day before yesterday for the shop, using a koa base and some axis deer antlers; it still needs to be sanded and oiled...I will post it later if it is helpful.

I believe Higo had a similar arrangement, and some koshirae were specified for appearance in the Shogun's court.
  11. Mineral oil from the drug store works just as well, just doesn't smell like cloves.
  12. Nice daisho, more blade pics please.
  13. Mei looks like Munetsugu to me...
  14. "Add ingredients and mix well"
  15. I made the tool Ken was referring to in the other post by taking an inexpensive riffler file, cutting it in half, and brazing both ends to a piece of 1/8 steel stock about 3 feet long; this allows the ability to ease the fit of saya and remove grit when necessary. Ask me privately if you want some further guidance.
  16. Why do you doubt that it is Mino, Ken? It looks very similar hamon wise to my Manji era Kunisada, and has takanoha yasurime which is consistent with some Mino schools....being potentially suriage, it could be late koto Kanexx or Kunixx work; the large nakago ana is also a clue.
  17. Congrats, very nice!
  18. I could do some building around here too!
  19. Kanesada/Kunisada-esque.
  20. Very beautiful sword, it looks ubu but slightly machiokuri. Great discovery!

Beautiful sword, koshirae, and lacquer work.
  22. I can't help with the translation, but returning items like these can bring up many uncomfortable and even painful issues for the families of the fallen. i personally do not think it is received in the same way it is meant, and do not recommend it.
  23. Not a Type 95 question, but i made a purchase arrangement with Ed for the Mantetsu he was selling, which has a funky green paint job which he said seems to have been worn that way for a time. maybe they were having supply issues and that color was all that was available at the time. That said, my question is, do the members here think it should be repainted a more "appropriate" color, or should it remain as is.....after some reconditioning of the blade, I will probably resell it at a later date. http://www.militaria.co.za/nmb/topic/30670-mantetsu/
  24. Hey me too!
