  1. Shot in the dark.... $8,000 plus or minus a few thousand? Sorry, not my usual focus. I believe that a member here sold a katana from him around Christmas for $10,000, which went very fast.
  2. Hi John, I want to keep this thread about the Chicago show, but I will have the sword there, so I beg Mark's forgiveness to give a short answer. My sword is on the site as Katana #2, but pictures are before polish. I have been waiting to take photos since it returned from Japan, but I need to buy a macro lens first.
  3. I just reserved a room for the show. $114 a night for a Hyatt in Chicago seemed very reasonable. I used the link in Mark's site, and it worked perfectly. Orbitz and travelocity are showing sold out.
  4. Hi Barry, Yes, I will have a Muramasa katana with me, fresh from Japan from a polish by Master Eto. Maybe a Muramasa tanto. I will also have two sets of very high end fittings with me. See you there!
  5. I just made my plans to attend the Chicago show this year, so I thought I would post the link. I have attended many years, but I am getting a table there this year. Anyone else attending? http://www.chicagoswordshow.com/
  6. Kunitaro San, I always label the package as Japanese antique nihonto. I have never had an issue this way. I purposely do not use the words sword or katana.
  7. Worked perfectly, thank you.
  8. As I previously mentioned, I am a very happy customer. I bought a Tokubetsu Hozon tsuba from them, with excellent customer service. Emails were clear, shipping was fast, and cost was exactly as listed, including all fees and shipping.
  9. Congrats to the new owner! Well done. Please bring it by the Chicago show, if anyone here bought it. I would love to see that thing.
  10. "....but..... honey.......it's an investment......" (dodge frying pan)
  11. You can also tell by the extra 0 in the price..... ????
  12. Thank you for the responses!
  13. Does anyone have a current email address for Brian Tschernega? I have a phone number, but i would rather email him first. Please pm me if you have one. Thank you!

    Yagyu Tsuba

Ty Greg. Yes Curran, you are correct. NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon. 7.4 cm x 6.9 cm. 17th C The color is fantastic in hand, and I've always been a fan of the Yagyu style.

    Yagyu Tsuba

Just took a few photos of my new tsuba, thought I would share. Please excuse the photos, I'm still messing around with learning how to use a camera.... Trying to juggle lighting, focus, etc is frustrating!
  16. Just bought a very high end tsuba from him last month. Great communication, and fast shipping. Big thumbs up from me.
  17. Check out that, 85.4 cm nagasa..... http://www.e-sword.jp/katana/1610-1020.htm
  18. I like the raffle plan, but maybe $20 for each entry?
  19. A huge thank you to Stan for one of my favorite sites.
  20. Sold for: ¥6,301,000 ($52,850)
  21. I predict that we will see 5 million yen when it hammers. Supply and demand folks. Muramasa is one of the few smiths who are known beyond the sword community. I agree with everything Ted said. I know that a Tokubetsu signed daito sold early this year for $110,000 from a dealer in Japan that I was speaking to. It was beautiful, and probably will go Juyo. I have many people outside of sword collectors that email my site asking if I know for any Muramasa swords that are available....
  22. As we know, Muramasa blades commonly had signatures removed or obscured. Please refer to http://markussesko.com/2014/03/14/the-muramasa-ban-and-signature-alterations/ I think that this practice with his specific swords should be reflected in the policy of the NBTHK. As of today, however, they will not issue Tokubetsu Hozon, as Muramasa is considered a Muromachi smith. (As Ray noted)
  23. I have asked the nbthk for clarification. Mumei muramasa still will not receive tokubetsu hozon.
