guys, although it does not bode well I really appreciate your comments and the time you took to reply to my post. I will post some further photos of the tang as requested but it appears the writing is on the wall..... As a matter of interest does anyone know what 小川歩子 means? kind regards, Ian

Hi, can anyone help me with authenticity and signature translation for this blade I purchased recently. Its overall length is 35.5 inches (90cm). As well as the written characters it has a very un-Japanese '13' stamped on the tang. Many thanks, Ian
