9. Hello, I would go for the same as Brian; http://nihontoclub.com/smiths/KAN1571 Kanemoto 2´nd gen. Typical Mino and very Kanemoto-ish style. /Martin
10. Brian, Yes, that would be preferred way. I don't know whether it is needed or not, but I sensed a frustration when I read your notice about the estimated downtime. Always good to evaluate and re-evaluate options, should the disaster be there. Main points to find out is: Bandwidth used, peaks and average Data volume, current and trend Downtime, total, average and numbers /Martin
11. A Chinese copy is also a possibility. /Martin
12. Marc, The ones Hoanh mentioned are great, but also look at: The Japanese Sword - Kanzan Sato Also...look here: http://www.japaneseswordbooksandtsuba.com/ He is a member here and sometimes he has great deals. Grey Doffin is the gentleman's name. /Martin
13. Welcome Marc-André, What are your future plans? Being a collector? Check this out: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=2549 /Martin
14. Brian, Have you considered having the site redirected to an alternate server as a back-up? I'm sure you have... /Martin
15. I aim to please It's always good to challenge! I will try to give it another try with the translation if I can get an image of it or returned to me. /Martin
16. Helllo, I don't have the possession of the Origami from the Shinsa. A potential buyer has both the Origami and the Tsuba, where it states time period and work method. I know very little on the subject of Tosugo. Perhaps it was attributed to such an artist that did make tsubas from foreign steel at the time. I really don't know. It looked like fun object to post. /Martin
17. Hello David, Measurements added to the first post. The information on both the period and metal is stated on the appraisal/origami. /Martin
18. Hi all, Here is a tsuba for those who are interested. I have never seen this style, where the back is like this, before. Late Muromachi/early Edo. Made from Portuguese steel. Added Measurements, feel free to edit and use it for your own purposes. Stay safe. /Martin
19. Of course it is Yoshimichi ... my bad Martin
20. Hello, Someone has carved in "Yoshinao", so you did ok :-) /Martin
21. Jeremy, Those dates are typed in by modern men and women. Do a proper research and then decide. Then you will learn new thing along the way. What if someone is wrong with a date? I myself have a few swords with the same dilemma. Some references say 1532 and some 1558. /Martin
22. Jeremy, I found this now: http://www.sho-shin.com/smiths1d.htm I cannot access my private files at the moment. The date you have is right between the gen(t)s. /Martin
23. Jeremy, There is a 5th gen and 6th gen....well was :-) /Martin
24. What Jacques is trying to point out is one of a few tellers. The ana is in the wrong place to the kanji. /Martin
25. Well said Brian. Unfortunately I cannot upload any pics as I'm not in possession of a computer at the moment and on the travelling foot. /Martin
