Regarding the first kozuka: I got to show it once to a person who sells Japanese antiques here in France and noticed his face when I handed out to him but (unfortunately for me) he didn't comment on it. So thanks for your comment, at least I have an idea of what's it's worth.
Thanks for your informative comments.
I doubt the second kozuka is from this known artist simply because it was a bargain on ebay and I can't imagine being so lucky
Maybe because the current exchange rate of euro is pretty high and europeans / frenchs can now afford things they couldn't some years ago. The seller may also "optimize" its sell price by posting on others ebay domains than its own (I noted that some auctions on ebay US didn't show up in my searches on ebay France but couldn't explain why)
Hello,
Some of you might have seen this auction posted on ebay today: link. It's just been online for 19 hours and the bid is already at 7050 USD (more than 6 days left) !!
Can a ken be worth so much money ? I don't doubt about the authenticity of the sword but I wonder what will be the final bid.
Hello,
Please find below some pics from 2 kozukas I bought several months ago. I'd like to share them with you.
First kozuka: Two horses on a nanakoji with gilted back. I don't know the metal the horses are made of (I suppose it's gold but I could be wrong)
Second kozuka: A traveller writing with a paint brush on a column. The written kanjis are the artist's name (I guess since I didn't translate it).
Any comments appreciated.
Hello,
Do you know whether it's possible to buy some sort of briefcase to store several tsubas (Kiribakos can only store 1 tsuba at a time) ? I didn't find anything of the sort in Google.
Thanks
Thank you John for your reply.
According to JSSUS's Kanji Pages, your suggestion is: TOSHI NAGA. Am I correct ? On the other side, the second kanji also looks like KANE (according to the same page).
I don't get "Jumyo John". What does it mean ? Sorry for the probably dump question, just trying to learn.
Many thanks
