Hey thanks allen for the advice . I assume I shouldn't rub to hard no matter what I use.I also read that soap and water is good to remove red rust, Then rubbing with bone is ok to do?

    Paint on tsuba

Hi I know that it's not wise to ever attempt to "clean" a tsuba other then lightly wiping to remove oils ect. But how could paint be removed from the rim of an iron tsuba safely?? Rubbing with bone?iso?ect. The paint was obviously spilled on it by accident in a few spots..
  4. Thanks for the attempt Martin..I'll post some good images of both sides as soon as I can.
  5. Sorry for the blurry vasoline on the lens image lol... The pic isn't my handy work . So the first part would read bishu ju osafune??I won't be able to take pics until I get the sword to inspect next week trying to get a jump on translation since I'm pretty bad at it, but I'm trying!
  6. Does this read Bishu osafune ???? mitsu. I can't make out the one charcter .It is also dated on the reverse side of which I have no images of as of yet.

    tsuba

I took some new pictures. It seems to be made of copper would it be pure copper or a alloy type? I took some measurements of it's thickness it's 5mm at the center and 3mm at the rim. Also the rim has a pattern of curved lines around it.
  12. I see your point. Mine loos very rounded as opposed to the sharpness of yours. Is it possible it's a different terukada smith?
  13. Any expert opinions out there?... Does any one have an oshigata for this they could post?
  14. Do you mean correct as compared to TER16 ?

  22. Yes I was just about to correct my post yokote is what I mean...Still mixing up my terms...So it's not a sho-bu zukri style blade ,why would a polisher not place one and then leave his kao on the blade if he was not properly polishing?
  23. Thanks peter that would keep in common with the general concensus on the mei.. Do you know what the rest reads?? Can anyone tell me if the lack of a boshi is correct for this blade ??
