Wondering if this sword is legitimate? I've never seen a hank like this?... But there are way more swords and styles I havent seen the have. Also the Nagako looks way too new to be koto but he does state it's a gimei so maybe it's been altered? Any thoughts....

Thanks Lance... I will put up some close up pics and will try and make a quick oshigata of the Nagako. It may not be the best but at least it will be good practice for me. :D
Thank you very much (nobody) Moriyama San and John. So my thinking it was bu wasn't far off even though incorrect. So was there a specific school or era this variant was used in? I assume by the look of the Nagako it's koto.. But you know what they say about assumptions ! It was suggested earlier that the year was part of the lower half is this correct? If so is that relatively common on the same side?
if you are reffering to the section Kuni(provinces) I see bizen listed not the same as in my image I posted. But what else would it be?...I'm totaly lost here..this is the ura mei correct?
Maybe it's the first documented case if so the medical community will pay a fourtune haha!! So if not bizen or bishu could it be Buzen? What exactly is not quite right I'm not seeing it ...what a suprise right :? Also why is the 3rd character not kichi but being read as yoshi?
Sorry for the confusion Lance but the nagako is ubu I believe..Yeah I'm sure lefties may have been converted like they use to in catholic school, with a good wack of a stick across the hand lol.
Thanks Lance .. I guess I should have mentioned that it's all on the same side. I was thinking it was odd since it's written on the left side( blade side)of the Nagako?
Hi, could any one explain to me why the smith name is ura mei?? or is this a a sort of tachi mei? I'm confused with this one. Also i think the first three kanji are bizen yoshi ...... can anyone make out any other characters?Any help greatly appreciated as always
IDK maybe it's just me but by stating it's in very good condition which it is not is ,is clearly misrepresentation at minium. Also stating it's preped for final finish?? I wouldn't have mentioned this listing but to mislead someone who has little knowledge into thinking there is a final finish that could be done to this sword is just not right. He Also states no returns.. I wonder why that is hmmmm??....anyway I thought it was funny
More like ready for the scrap pile! ......I tried to do a good deed and contacted the seller to advise him about the damage and it's fatalness and to list as such, but all was to no avail

Hey Grey,......not sure if it's worth it but I figured I try and find out if it is even worth looking into I know the kissaki is a rather expensive and delicate area to fix. It's probably not worth the expense or may be a wash?I'm trying to learn what kind of expense this type of repair is and what can and can't be repaired.By the way that tachi went back to seller I asked you about.
Thanks chris...I was just throwing it out there to start some discussion so that newbie's like myself might learn some basics, and I did...I didn't even think of the idea that a chip would be the cause of the dip in the line of the kissaki but that makes perfect sense now.I figured it was just butchered by someone trying to sharpen the tip.
I've been trying to visualize what the correct shpe would be if it could be reshaped? I marked out two versions very badly done  !! I'm at work and only have acess to MS paint no PS on my machine lol...Are these even close to what should be there?
Hi all,
So this is the kissaki from a 28'' blade signed tachi mei.Over all the blade may be ok... except for the kissaki I think?Does it look to anyone to be badly reshaped or damaged or is it just me. Can it be "fixed" if there is enough tempered steel left ?
Well thanks for all the responses...I can't even see the second to last kanji at all :? I guess the consensus is sukesada after going over the blade I found some other problems with it so it's back in the hands of it's owner but thanks again for all the information.I definitly learned a little.....
I don't think It was brushed,so most of that grey shine is a camera effect but it does look as if it's been rubbed with maybe a little oil. I can't see any other characters above it in person though. But given the sukesada and quality I think I have the date range give or take some years and most likely a bundled type sword correct.....
Here are the new pics of both sides. So is bishu osafune sukesada is correct? As for the date ni ...shi ...??? I'm confused on how to read this any help would be great.I've picked up quite a bit from this site as far as reading kanji but I'm still terrible at it. I wish I had more time to dedicate to studying or to take some classes.
So going by this blurry pic I guessing it may read Sukesada? Being that's a common mei and by the placement of what strikes I can make out... I've read that the blades which are dated may be of a better quality than non dated? I've seen that there is quite a bit of discussion out there about this so not sure what is true.
