Hi , does anyone have any images of a kaneyasu katana?I've only been able to find two one from aus museum and the other was a Wakizashi on Aoi arts..
-
Hey thanks Ruben ... I feel like I just gave birth to a beautiful whopping 25" solid steel Japanese baby..lol

Thanks Paul .To be honest it's more of a 4th time buy. But none were of any substantial cost...Including this one!!this one also came in very nice high end WWII mounts in VG condition, and nice two piece silver brushed habaki. The sword is a real attic find from the vet who brought it home and I plan to take well care of it in my home... :D

I'm pretty fresh to this too.. I have a good amount of books but not many on mei I need to pick up hawley's. I've bought a few blades before some nice some not so much. I do feel now I have a much better eye for a better sword then when I made my first bad buy lol. I think I got this one for a good price, but I'm not sure what this one is going to turn out to be $ wise. I'm not so concerned with the money but it's nice to know what I have. -

I would be in complete agreement with you on this.Comparing this to the sword in hand I would say almost exact... but My skill level of reading kanji is rather low...thanks for the research you have been very helpful! -

Hi mike thanks for the intrest!...I have been looking for some other examples but so far have only found the one you are reffering too... -
Hey Grey thanks for the reply and the possibly good news.So by actually lisitening to more expirenced collectors and not buying a blade for the signature but buying a blade for the blade,I may have done well!lol that would be great news.I purchased this from a firearms dealer who obtained it directly from a vet's wife who had recently passed.I bought it based on the blades merrits not knowing the mei at the time.

Thanks that was a very useful response pointing me in the right direction.I will work from what you have said and try my best.It just seems that they are common to people that have been intrested in this for a longer time then I.Once I have seen them many times over I'm sure I'll start to retain some other then mitsu and the charcter for "made by" see I forgot what it's called already lol.....but thanks I try -

I hope your just breaking my chops?Well I guess I'm not so adept in reading kanji...I'm Just looking for some helpful input which you have provided with a little jab but that's fine I guess.. I deserve it being almost completely new to this right..I don't have any idea in how to begin to search out the proper kanji it's all greek to me!! Maybe someone can give me a little instruction on the most efficient and productive way to break down the characters for some reason I just have a really hard time with it I must be going about it the wrong way thanks -

Hi mariusz how your day......I think it may be The pictures I took.. the whole tsuba is pretty uniform dark patina with some reddish brown powerdy new rust on top that I haven't touched, I think The shinny areas are from oily hands?? I'll try and take another maybe you could get a better look.. I think??? I was told by one person that The motif is pine trees and clouds?? I'm going to look up the one you suggested tonight to compare either way I Like it lol.. I can't see half the motifs anyway they all look like abstract geometric art to me.... Thx
-
I think it's already too late lol... My womans gonna kill me If I buy anything else haha!!
-
here's the additional pictures of the tsuba....First one measures 65.1mm dia. --5.1mm at rim--3.3mm at cutouts Here's the pictures of the second tsuba of one ofmy koto wakizashi....measures 73mm dia--5.1mm at rim--5.1mm at cutouts

I think I may have already developed " a little habit " I'm starting to get more and more into the tsuba lol ..... I'll post some pics and measurements when I get in later. I also have what I think Is another verynice tsuba I'll put up for some input since I got such great replys from this post. Thx

Hey thanks for the info....sorry I missed the cleaning link i checked the post from my iphone little screen so i missed it lol......I definitly wasn't going to really clean was just planing on a light oil but i will refrain from anything until I research the proper cleaning and check out the link posted by boris.I bought an ok wakizashi just for the tsuba and saya and plan on selling the wak for cost, I usually only ask what items are worth after I've bought them to better understand what I should pay in the future.Something about this tsuba design really appealed to me it just looked classically appealing and simplistic.... thanks again for the advice!
-
Hi,thanks for the quick precise replies!!I have two question when it comes to tsuba....I've noticed some light brown surface rust should i wipe it with choji oil??Also whats a tsuba like this one's value it's a ko tsuba about 3'' dia..
-
Hi can anyone tell me what style type age ect..... this tsuba could be I'm sure this is an easy one but I haven't studied tsuba's at all to speak of.I'm still getting my feet wet with the blades LOL,,,,any help appreciated

Hey thanks guys for all the good advice! I agree with basically everything you guys ate saying. Since I started buy a few blades here and there I haven't spent much and picked up a couple of decent ones with help from boardmembers.I try to use The basic Knowledge I've picked up here and from readings, but I also just use my eye for esthetics. If I see something that just isn't appealing or feels odd I question it alot more now.I noticed TJE Anna being off and they don't align with each other, odd placement ect... I didnt think much of it but after reading your posts I know now that it must be more important then I thought. The sword is for sale from a pa gun dealer, he clamis the paper he has from the military is for this sword as a trophy... And he bought it from The nephew of the vet.Everyone has a story maybe true maybe not I don't believe most "stories" lol....So unless I can get it dirt cheap I'm gonna ,pass as most of you have implied Thanks I've learned a couple things from this..
