  1. Hi All, I was wondering if someone could help with this translation. I think it reads Kaneyuki? I am not sure if that is right. I have been trying my hand at some translations and can not get this one. Even a hint would be great. Cheers, Chris
  2. Hi John, Thank you much. I really screwed this one up. Committed it to memory. Never heard of this smith until now. Cheers, Chris
  3. Hi All, I have been trying my hand at translating and having some success. I was trying to translate this one and have not found the first kanji anywhere(or at least what I think looks like it). The second is da or ta and the last is masa I believe. Thank you for helping me learn. Cheers Chris
  4. I found this at an estate sale and wondered if someone could help me with what it says. Thanks much for any help. Cheers, Chris
  5. Thank you Jean. Do you have any thoughts of how old this might be? Regards, Chris
  6. Hi, I was hoping someone could help with a sword I picked up a while back. This is an older blade in military mounts and I think the last kanji reads Mitsu and the first might be an incomplete province Yamashiro?. Thanks for the help. Regards, Chris
  7. I had recently found this at an estate sale and was hoping someone could help me with the translation. The tang is very rusty and it appears to have some age, while the blade was in old WW2 mounts. The pictures are the best I could do and because the tang ws so rusty I wet the tang a bit and put some powder on to enhance the mei. I think this might read Yasu or Yoshi(partial becase of rust) second character I have no clue and the last is Kore. Thanks for all help, Chris
  8. Thank you very much Chris and John. I was fairly sure it was Moto ?, but with your help I can do some research on this . Thanks much, Chris
  9. Hi, I was hoping someone could help me with the translation on this tanto and tell me when it might have been made. Thanks much, Chris
  10. Hi Troy, I work for the USPS and I have sent many items to China without a problem over the years. The key is to send it USPS Express Mail International or Global Express Mail International and insure the item. I have sent items up to 3000.00 without any problem, the key is to insure the item (and you can up to 5000.00). If they do not want to pay the higher price of these two services or decline to insure avoid the transaction. Regards, Chris
  11. Hi, Thank you Robert, I will post pictures of the Wakizashi I got at the same sale that I think is also nice. Regards, Chris
  12. Hello, Thank you very much for your help again Chris. Regards, Chris
  13. Here are a couple better pictures. Thanks, Chris
  14. Hello, Thank you Chris for the information. The tsuba I do think is fake. The blade has kesho file marks on the tang and is very finished unlike the Chinese I have seen. This blade also has some minor forging flaws that I have seen in traditional blade. i will take some better pictures of the sword and hoipe you change your mind. I think someone took a traditional blade and used parts to make their own. Regards, Chris and thank you again Chris
  15. Hello All, About a month ago I got to use much of what I have been learning from this board at an auction. I found this sword and noticed the tsuka appeared to be hand made out of a real dense dark brown wood( I think someone made this and pressed brass pins to hold the tsuka in place). The blade after looking at it has a wavy midare hamon which is very hard to photograph on this camera and an older made blade, and older saya so I felt it was worth a few dollars. I got it very cheaper under 200 dollars. I went home and very slowly drilled the brass pins out to find this blade and I do not know where to start. I have had much sucess with two characters but this looks to have more information. I hope someone will help me. The second is the tsuba appears to be iron with copper and gold gilt( I think this is a newer tsuba) and hope t get feed back on this also. Thank you much, Chris
