  2. Do you which era this Tanba no kami Yoshimichi was? I checked Google, and it says there were more than one from 1634 to 1853. I'll show the blade.

  9. I think the pictures I posted are from my Wakizashi. I got the sword out took some pictures. The tang is blank on oneside and blade is 26 inches. The scabbard is brown. Here is the signature. Thank you
  10. I will get it out of safe tomorrow and take new pictures. The pictures here are about 12 yrs old and I did not tag them but I think it is the gunsui blade. Above pictures are the complete inscription of both sides of the tang if it's the right ones. Thank you
  11. Thanks to all for your help. I posted the sword about 12 years ago on SFI which is gone now I guess. The only thing I remember was the maker not the whole translation but I think they said maker was Kane Kune or Kane Kuni or something like that.

  13. I have a sword that has a gunsui blade that has been remounted. I found some old pictures of the tang and I think it is these. Please translate them for me. Thank you
  14. When I showed the tang on another forum years ago they said it was a gunsui military blade by Kane Kune or Kane Kuni but they didn't reply on the era of the fittings. I still have the sword and will dig it out of the safe latter and take photos of the tang. Thank you
  15. I'm not knowledgeable about proper names and meanings. What would that mean in layman's terms. I believe the sword was made 1939 era and I know it is gunsui steel but are the fittings from that time frame or older? Thank you for the help. Also the handle wrapping has a hard black substance on it. Is that for waterproofing?

  19. Hello, Im starting to collect Japanese swords and no very little about them. I have searched on sites to try and read the signature but the characters are so similar I cant tell. I think the one mark is for Showa. Im not trying to get this information to sell the sword but to find out about the sword-smith or if it is a factory blade. Any help in reading the signature would be greatly appreciated. I hope the pictures are good enough. Thank you D. Ricks
