  2. I was hoping someone could help me with the translation of this wakizashi. I have been having luck translating recently but this one has me beating my head againt the wall. Would the stroke count method be easier to translate this one. Regards, John

  5. If anyone could help me with translation of this sword so I can use this as an example of how to translate four character mei. I have successfully translated the remainder of the shorter ones (two and some three mei) with the help of this great board. Thanks John

  7. Hi, Here are a couple good pictures of the blade. I have terrible picture of the tang. This has a nicer temper line and edge than the previous one I posted here and a Ishido Teruhide blade I just identified. I am hoping these will help. I have had this for about 30 years. I am hoping bad pictures! Thanks John

  9. Hi, I would like to thank those who have helped me with advice and I have found a few books that I have ordered. I have also been able to identify two other swords I have on my own. I have this one that I have spent four hours on I need some hints. This is a Wakizashi I have and do not know if there are two or three mei here. If it is two I can not find these mei with the charts and I am wondering if the other side is a date? Thanks, John the Newbie but learning

  11. Hi Bran, Yes I did play around with the color, contrast, and brightness but the tang is still pretty bright. This is from a late war sword with marine mounts and a machine made blade I believe. I have just taken the hadle off for the first time as it has sat for years. John
  12. I have recently found this great site and have a couple question for the veterans here. First, I would like to know what books I can buy to read and learn about Japanese swords and in the distant future translate and second I would like help translating a couple swords my grandpa brought home from WW2.
