  2. Many thanks Milt, what era would you say,(am i right in saying edo) w
  3. Thanks Richard,( the self respecting samurai was a leg puller for milt),i was not sure whether to leave it or not, hence the question, you lot have years of collecting these under your belts so i will leave it the way it is,i must say the patination i enjoy, had no idea this was done intentionally.
  4. Here is the tsuba Milt, see half of me says leave it but the other half says,it should be cleaned to go onto my nihonto, any self respecting samurai would not have a dirty tsuba maybe a Ronin but not a Samurai...( only joking Milt)
  5. Need some more help chaps,i have just got a really nice jisukashi tsuba, made from brass,(edo period i think) thing is i want to mount it on a wakizashi i have, now it has that nice golden brown yellowy patina that brass gets after a few years of neglect,so do i celan it and put it on or do i leave it the way it is and still stick her on?I was thinking if i did clean it,i would like to leave the cut out sections that have verdegris intact though,( you know the part tht would have been filed.
  6. Iam new here but the dealer you are looking at is in Brighton,( i live in n.ireland but am originally from brighton) i have bought some stuff off of him in the past no swords though,i have had no problems when dealing with him, although last year when i went back home for a few days i did take a look at his nihonto,as i say i know next to nothing abut swords compared to you guys but they seemed very expensive, and 99% of them seemed to be out of polish. w
  7. Does anyone know of good a habaki maker in the uk?I was asking Moses becerra if his Habaki maker would do one for me,but seemly he only does it as a full restoration deal (when the blade is being polished i suppose),from the photos his work looks incredible,so does anyone know of a guy in the uk that can do just as good work? many thanks, will

  11. sorry about the capitals,(i'm not really computer literate) all these green lights looks like something out of a 747 cockpit.....i'm affraid there are no clubs that i know of here (n.ireland),although i'm being taught by a nice guy in america,i'm finding reading kanji a little more than daunting,( is there a knack to it),yes some of those links and the knowledge shown here is incredible,i really had no idea that there was so much to it,my interest came about when my father died (about three years ago) he collected mainly flintlocks but had a samurai sword,so it came to me,beautiful thing, the more i looked at it the more i wanted to know about them, now i'm hooked. w.g.
