  1. The wood doesn't appear to be ho wood or anything resembling shirasaya wood. The brass peices on the wood seem to be amateuer made as well. The actual blade seems decent to me when he brought it to me. It had good balance and the signature didn't seem blatantly fake.
  2. Here are some better pics!
  3. Thanks so much. Does anyone know anything about this smith? I am guessing he is gendai smith around WW2 but I can't find any reference to him in any of my books or the web sites.
  4. My friend had this laying around his house. It is a tachi blade and I can't tell if the mei say's kazumitsu or what. Can someone help me?
  5. Isn't that a little suspicious to have that many swords by nagamitsu, and doesn't the kanemoto mei say "noshu seki ju kanemoto" which could by any number of kanemoto?
  6. sorry, here it is http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0677060950
  7. I am thinking about buying this one does anybody have any opinions on the authenticity of it.
  8. I am asking on this forum because it is a nihonto forum and this is the kind of question people post here. The polisher I used told me it was mino but it is hard to get ahold of him for more info that is why I am asking experienced people here so I can get some more info on it before I send it back to my sister, who my dad passed it down to.
  9. What age do you think? Koto or shinto?
  10. The person with his hands on it is the polisher. Sorry I didn't reply sooner but I took the family on a vacation to Carlsbad Caverns.
  11. New pictures posted on link!
  12. Ok I am posting more pics

    School help

I know it is a long shot but I thought that with so much activity in the hamon maybe someone with some knowledge could narrow it down for me. This was passed down to my sister by my dad and has a lot of character. The boshi and hamon are noticeably different on each side. The measurements are as follows Nagasa:11 15/16inch Tang length 1 1/32 sori 0.5mm Here is the link for the photos http://s1020.photobucket.com/albums/af3 ... ens/tanto/
  14. I was surprised to see this piece didn't have any bids on it! I picked it up for pretty cheap because I saw an article in JSSUS newsletter about this smith. I believe it is Echigo no Kami Kanesada. The Mei matches with the adopted son but i wanted a more experienced opinion.
