Myochin Iron Kabuto signed in the rear of the bowl...Gold lacquered mei is hard to read, but it looks like Yoshi Michi.
-
It is lacquered iron...I'll post another soon that is one piece with a thick brown lacquer. Ed
-
Thanks, Ian...It's an odd one for sure. Ed

The design is quite unusual and although it looks a bit odd it actually works well as a mask and fits well.

Unique Koto era Somen...I've seen a similar one pictured in a book on early Mempo and I believe this one to be Muromachi period...Heavier than later masks this would likely stop or misdirect a sword blow...Interesting engraved and embossed chin section...The actual surface is much darker and I used flash to show the details better. Suji Kabuto with Silvered Maedate (appears to be silvered leather that has tarnished) and eggshell lacquer mabezashi and fukigaeshi...Abe family mon.
-
Thanks, I'll post more soon as I sort my collection out for eventual dispersal, I've owned a few great armors over the years including a Daimyo quality O-yoroi...great suit I couldn't afford to keep. Ed

Brian, This helmet isn't for sale, just one in my collection...Ed

Uwe, That is my feeling also, but I need to take better photos. Ed

Ian, I'll take better images soon...The kanamono are of shakudo and of very good quality...I was amazed they weren't signed. Ed
-
The Sode are part of a composite suit that I have just posted...The Ho-O bird Do and 1 piece Namban style Kabuto...The Kote are iron with butterfly clasps and the leg guards are 2 piece iron. Ed

Thanks, Ian.

Age estimate is based on the style, weight, construction and interior lacquer is a type I've only seen on early armor.

Mutsu Daijo Miyoshi Nagamichi Katana...Any idea what generation this may be based on this image? That's all I have to go on. Thanks, Ed

1 Piece Russet Iron bowl Namban style Kabuto with gold and silver inlay...Perhaps Muromachi period, but Momoyama at least I believe. Ed

The grip is turtle/tortoise shell and the Red Cross emblem is on the kashira...I am unsure of the era, but I believe it was used in the late 1800s to early 1900s. Ed
