Ok so here is the story, I have a gendai, and I just recently noticed a strange area on the kissaki. It looks like something hit the kissaki and left a ding, and what looks like a chip starting to form, or maybe its a crack, I can't tell. It does not go through the kissaki, but I can see a small line indention when I hold it up to the light, it does not seem to be deep at all. I couldn't actually photograph it, because it is so small so I tried my best to duplicate in paint. (note actual line is about 1/2 this thick.) http://img24.imageshack.us/i/kissaki1.jpg/ So is it a fatal flaw? can it be polished out? Am i worrying over nothing? Thanks Bob j.

I have been noticing a stamp on some very crude WWII era swords. By looking at the blade quality and fittings it seems that these are not Chinese copies, but I have never seen this stamp in any books before. Too tired to go through a polish?

Hello, I have been offered a chance to get this blade, but I was wondering is it considered a tanto or wakizashi? The length is 20 inches total, and the cutting edge is 15.75 inches. Also do you think that spot up by the kissaki is a fukure? And if so do you think it can be polished out? Also can you tell me what the kanji says? Thanks, aaron b.
