  1. Wow. I'm quite surprised. I expected some more interest. Being that I have been scolded quite a bit for even thinking about removing tsuba rust any other way. But anyways on Sat just look for the guy in the sunglasses and trench coat with the inside lined with old ivory piano keys
  2. You read Ladies Home Journal? OK I'll stop. I'm prolly asking for a beatdown so back to proper NMB behavior..
  3. And it works great! Just time consuming.
  4. Greetings comrades, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in some ivory (old piano keys) for tsuba rust removal. Due to friends being in the piano restoral buisness for many years he has a large stock of old keys. The ivory will not be free of course but the price will be reasonable. If interested I will be at SF Shinsa on Saturday so PM me to arrange a meeting time/place. Looking forward to meeting NMB members and see lots of beautiful blades also!
  5. Better count on the backhoe for my funeral. Nihonto. Gibson and Rickenbacker Guitars, Marshall's its ALL coming with me!!!
  6. A vibrator? Sheesh Tom! It is obviously a tea leaf crusher/smasher.
  7. Very well said.
  8. This part sounds familiar to me at least! Dude. It was not like that! LOL
  9. The dream itself was bizarre or the fact that you had a dream was bizarre? I somewhat ashamedly admit that nihonto have penetrated deep enough into my psyche that I am occasionally prone to the odd nihonto related dream... my latest was that the tip of an okissaki on one of my shinshinto blades was broken off by some careless handeler... woke up in a cold sweat! The dream itself was bizarre. But I am a vivid dreamer so dreaming is not so bizarre. They synopsis is: I'm in NYC in what seems to be the Chelsea district with a child. We are in a building on about the 4th flr looking out the window and see a HUGE tidal wave approaching. Next we are on the street looking for cover. A door opens and a finely dressed Japanese woman steps through and coax's me in. I pass through the door into a small room where there are tables with Nihonto displayed and several elder Japanese men are doing Kantai. The woman takes my blade and disappears. She returns to inform me that the Mei has been authenticated. Now I have been told 1000 times that this is impossible due to the fact that the waki that I possess was not even invented yet when Yukimitsu of Sagami was forging. Interesting though that there are other blades that are attributed to him that have no mei.... Whatever. I'm just a noob. Shinsa cometh!
  10. And thank you Chris. Again it's the explanation and reasoning that helps me understand.
  11. Reinhard. Thank you for at least the reasoning. That I appreciate and somewhat answers my question. And if it makes me look stupid perhaps you looked stupid once to somebody when you started studying. But I have heard many times there is no such thing as a stupid question. And I will probably ask more stupid questions.
  12. Well gentleman. A simple "yes" "no" or "I don't know" would have been OK. The question presented and if it is significant to my blade should not matter. It was only a question with the "why I was asking" that I added for backgroud purposes. I was curious so I asked. The usual reply is along the lines of at least a friendly "you don't know WTF you are talking about noob". Really, it's OK to not know everything...
  13. OK. Maybe I worded this wrong. How about another Wakizashi with Yukimitsu mei? Perhaps not THE Sagami Provence Yukimitsu but one of his understudies.
  14. So I was unable to find another gimei wakizashi by Yukimitsu. And in the course of my study I would like to compare the blade to a lot of different things. The fact that I was unable to find this I thought was interesting and the only thing I was able to find were tangs that were signed his mei by his understudies. I'm sorry, but I don't understand you not understanding..
  15. That it exists on another wakizashi. The only other Mei's I have been able to find that are signed Yukimitsu are by his...umm..retainers?
  16. So the ongoing study of my blade is of course presenting more questions than answers. Based on my study of the blade measurements and blade qualities it seems to fall in the Koto-Bizen make. But being that I have been told that the Mei is impossible to be actual the one thing I can not find is another Gimei of "Sagami (no)Kuni Yukimitsu". Can someone provide an example of this? I have added a dimensions diagram of the blade. I know it is not accurate down to the millimeter but pretty damn close.
  17. All replies from Stephen superseed mine.
  18. Possibly Kikyo-mon. Same on my Tsuba. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4023/451 ... 3e4b_m.jpg
  19. Yes Shinsa is coming up quickly. There will be pictures there will be jaw-dropping looks of awe and ooooo's and ahhhh's. I will be bring my Soshu Yukimitsu Waki for opinions and for comparisons to try and validate my own research as well as seek opinions on polish. It's funny I actually had a dream about shinsa and my blade which was VERY bizarre. But to not go on chemicals? I guess that would eliminate fast food . Hmmm...do you think it would be OK if I show up in a Star Trek costume?? j/k I know it's not ComicCon. I am also looking forward to possibly meeting other board members and officially the cocktails are on me. Natural ones of course.. And Brian: Ya when I posted that last night I was really not paying very close attention and I actually feel kind of stupid. Because looking again at the picture that was posted it is very clear that the blade is ANTI-Nihonto. But oh well..Live and learn yes??
  20. If the artist was on LSD the patterns would have been more symmetrical.
  21. Well for starters the nakago looks all wrong. There is a possibility of iriyama-gata nakago but the mekugi-ana is placed about as wrong as can be. Also the ad states 1600' (Pre-endo era). WTF is an endo era? Is that exactly after Edo right before Meiji? I think not... Ummm...Hard to make out blade characteristics but if it is in fact Nihonto maybe the shape tells me late Edo. But the Tsuba looks nice Now I better get some sleep before NOC calls me again. On-call sucks.
  22. A test?!?! SWEET! NOONE reply until I post the answer.
  23. I'd though I'd share anyways... http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/atq/1848365719.html I'm on Nihonto purchasing restriction so I'm passing along.
  24. At least I'm not the only one with "A mind full of swords".... Now if only I had a bank account full of disposable cash.
