    wouldn't bother me as compared to a forging flaw. missing grain and long runs in a sword bother the heck out of me. A chip in the edge, not so much.

    what does this tag say? edit8 my apologies i saved the image from the seller but instead of 1 large picture of the tag, it will only capture a series of smaller pictures. I understand if it is not large enough to read.

    Yes it appears so, however many pieces have broken out and it is all lacquer with free floating pieces of calcium of substantial size. nearly a centimeter in size and no skin attachment. I am of the belief that the skin (leather) portion of the ray skin has disappeared and it is just polished down nodules and lacquer.
