  1. Thanks for the info, I decided to pass on it.
  2. Hello everyone, I was hoping that you guys may help me out translating the mei of a sword I am looking at buying. So far I have come up with: "Bizen no kuni ju..." I can't get the rest though. There is a lot of activity going on with the hamon, it looks like a suriage Bizen (Sue-Bizen?) work to me. Seller says it's a 24 inch blade, these are the best pictures I could get. Any info or opinions would be appreciated. Thanks. --Richard.
  3. Hello everyone, it's been a long time since I have logged on. A friend at work inherited a small stout Japanese blade from his late father, it has a signature on it, and I was hoping someone could translate it please. Thanks, Rich.
  4. Got it in hand today, measurements are: 6.3cm x 5.5cm x 0.5cm. The fukurin appears to be made of silver. Started on rust removal, it's going to take a while though. Seems like there is also a lot of a wax type of build up around the inlay. Rich R.
  5. Thanks for the information guys, I fixed the pics.. Is it better to leave the rust as-is on a piece like this? Ill put up more pictures when I have it on hand. Rich R.
  6. Hello everyone, it has been a while since I posted, but my interest in Nihonto/Tosogu has been renewed. I know some about Nihonto, but not a lot about Tosogu. I found a Tsuba I really liked online, so I took the jump and bought it. I was wondering what you guys could tell me about it, like the era, school ets... like I said I know virtually nothing on the Tosogu side of collecting. I just bought it today, so it's not in my hands yet, so I am using the seller's pictures for now. Thanks for any information at all! Rich R.
  7. Reminds me of this http://www.sanmei.com/Pictures/Sword/N6 ... 0_PUP1.jpg rich r.
  8. That is actually a Marshal's badge, looks like a reproduction too. See here for more info: http://p2.hostingprod.com/@imperialjapa ... halls.html rich r.
  9. No, the two bottom characters was cut more professionally. rich r.
  10. I wish I could scan it, but it does not belong to me and I only saw it while visiting family out of state. Rich r.
  11. This sword has been in my family for a long time, it is machine made and has a Nagoya inspection stamp. Unfortunately I had no camera at the time, so I tried my best to copy the signature. Signed tachi mei Signature: http://img197.imageshack.us/f/signatureuq.jpg/ Date: http://img571.imageshack.us/f/71551089.jpg/ Thanks, rich r.
  12. I think the swords produced mid-war with iron fuchi didn't have stamps. rich r.

    Old blade?

It is hard to make out the hamon, I might bring it home with me on Saturday and post more pics. Also there are no seki/showa/star stamps on this one. Edit- After playing around with the photos in photoshop I have to say the sword has a suguha hamon. rich r.
