    Aoi -Art

I share both your satisfaction for Aoi Art and the dissapointment for (my coyntry's) customs.... We expect pics!
  4. Thanks! It got all of us who haven't been in Japan yet, to daydream...
  5. I too think that it is a quiz and not an attribution request. There is the spoiler as well...
  6. The topic title is the most accurate remark! The nakago seems very crude to me, but I wait eagerly for a more educated opinion by senior forumites....
  7. Thanks Thierry, your pics were a consolation for those of us who can't attent
  8. The same goes for me too! Can't wait for the next presentation, as I am very much interested in kinko tsuba.
  9. A tachi restored by Lohman? I think it was an old, neglected (and probably tired) blade restored with fancy koshirae and horimono that hide flaws... That's my amateur opinion anyway...
  10. they seemed to me like the edge of the tsuba and shadow, but now that I see it you must be correct
  11. I needed a tsuba for a modern production wakizashi and, while browsing at modern junk, saw this. I love the design (still dream of a larger Echizen Kinai like this) and recently lost for a breath one that was sold by a fellow forumite. It was priced as a modern cast piece and got it for a reasonable price though. I am buffled however whether it is a cast piece or not. The iron texture seems like cast to me but can't see any seams. I bought it thinking it for cast (and paid accordingly) but thought it good to ask the more knowledgable.
  12. Oops! they do not need a registration to download.... sorry!
  13. Thanks Ken! As I am not registered with them, would it be much trouble for you to attach the PDF files to your next email for the bags? Thanks again.
  14. I think I was misunderstood, Fred.If you read it more carefully, you 'll see that I meant that there were better options other than destroy all these swords. One of them was giving them to GI's. The "shame" is their destruction, not taking them to the States. I think that destroying cultural assets, even those of your enemies, is plainly put unacceptable...
  15. What a cultural catastrophe and shame for the "West". They just take them to the States, give one to each GI as a souvenir, send them to museums. Anything that would save these treasures (and those that aren't) for the future generations. But these are just my ramblings...
  16. Randy Black is also good...
  17. I think it's a reflection at the horimono and oxidation at the ji in the second from the end pic and a large opening at the last of first row. In my (uneducated) opinion it will benefit greatly from a polish. Just in case, as you have consequently displayed a good eye, which picture do you have in mind, Curran?
  18. Very nice sword and well priced! Do you know what the symbol at the habaki means?
  19. Still, Chris, they have preserved more swords than the whole west (from Greece to the States and Australia to Norway)...
  20. I "envy" people in Japan not only because they have access to a lot more swords and fittings than us gaijin, but also because they esteem and appreciate them in an everyday practice.
  21. Very impressive Henry. This saya will match up the rest koshirae just perfectly! It almost brought up a sentiment of envy for you and others forumites living in Japan and having access to such babies! PS Besides the saya, I found the fuchikashira and tsuba, absolutely gorgeous.

    swrd case

Ken, how often do you oil your blades with these bags?
  23. I know it might sound a bit silly, but isn't it the same things when saying soft jigane and weak jigane? And besides the hada, how can one discern whether it's weak or strong?

Zerust gun cases with a corrosion pad would be my suggestion. Goodling it would bring the site up.
